The problem with aligning into four leagues (or divisions) of 8 and playing those other 7 teams A LOT is our time zone distribution.

We can have 8 Pacific/Mountain; 8 Central; 8 East and 8 East, But if you divide them into AL/NL and keep groups of 8, the Central teams are upset because they have to play out west a lot.

But if you do West 8, Central 8 in one conference and East 8, East 8; you’re having problems with your 16 east group coming to an agreement on who goes where for strength/rivalry/finances… AND of course this destroys the whole AL/NL tradition and history.

So what you do is PLAY REVISIONIST HISTORY.

In 1957, you had 8 AL, 8 NL. The furthest teams West were KC and STL.
Then the Dodgers and Giants moved to California (This destroyed the ‘near Major League’ Pacific Coast League). And left a hole in NY, which the NL initially refused to fill. So William Shea formed the Continental League, and the AL & NL quickly came to an agreement to expand and thwart the league.

Simply pretend the PCL became the third major league: LAA, LAD, OAK, SF, SD, SEA, COL, ARZ

AL had: BAL, BOS, NYY, CLE, DET, CWS, MIN (was WAS then), and KC (was A’s, now Royals).

NL had: PHI, PIT, CIN, CHC, STL, ATL (was MIL then), MIL (was Braves, now Brewers)

The CBL: NYM, WAS, HOU, TEX, TOR, MON, MIA, TB

Boom, roasted.
