Greg Holland is opting out of his contract and will be a free agent.

Good for him. Came back from TJ surgery and is still one of the games best closers, there was a lot of doubt about him coming back to form.

Anyhow the 4 largest cities in the USA are now left in the playoffs. TV networks dream.

I'm sure they would have preferred an NYY-BOS series for obvious reason but yeah, this worked out quite well for the networks. Good series as well so can't really complain on a baseball front either.

The four largest cities are still in, but if the Yanks win, the WS will be an even bigger media event than normal.

Sounds like Cora has been hired by Boston. Odd since Houston's season isn't over yet. This is more common to see in the NFL

Happy for Cora. Just don't know if that's the right fit. Pressure will be on.

The Mets are aiming to wrap up their managerial search this weekend with the hope of announcing a new hire before the World Series begins next Tuesday, and they’ve identified current Mets hitting coach Kevin Long and Mariners third base coach Manny Acta as the top two candidates, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports. Long has been perceived to be the favorite for much of the search, per Sherman, but Acta made a strong impression and is now viewed as a “legitimate possibility” as well.

Hickey also is not longer pitching coach for Rays, Allen was fired from Twins. Liliquist out as Cards' pitching coach. Mets fire Warthen few weeks ago. A lot of proven guys. Royals IIRC part ways with Eiland, too.
