How is Joe Jimenez an All-Star? Snell doesn't make it but this guy does?

A's fans are getting awfully offended here. I said I think Lowrie and Simmons should both be all stars. Simmons is having the better season. The stats back it up. Manny Machado is not good defensively at SS by any means. Lindor should be the starter and Simmons should be the back up. Lowrie is having the 2nd best year for AL 2B and should be the backup to Altuve. But to say Lowrie is having a better year than Simmons is a factually incorrect statement. He may be having the slightly better offensive year, but they aren't in the same stratosphere defensively.
Dude, he's having a much better offensive season at the moment. That isn't a slight on Simmons, but simply looking at their ops or ops+ doesn't do Lowrie justice.

Hopefully Torres bows out and this isn't even an issue, but Lowrie not even being in the final vote is another slap in the face.

Lowrie has definitely cooled off since his hot start while Simmons has evolved into an elite contact hitter, but whatever

See right there is what the issue is. The players voted first week of june. When simmons was going on dl. Thats almost a month ago, so before he even came of dl, the votes were in

So at this rate, it seems like Scherzer/Severino are the likely All-Star starting pitchers?

lowrie cooled off a bit but has been hot once again as of late

there's really no way you can say simmons is having a better offensive season than lowrie

As of right now, these pitchers wont pitch:

gerrit cole
justin verlander
john lester
trevor bauer
aaron nola

So it really leaves only scherzer or maybe degrom for nl

Take all MLB All-Stars and randomly split them into 2 teams that don't represent a league. Then drop Mickolas and his 6.17 K/9 and add Snell.

It is absolutely absurd that Adam Ottavino got snubbed from the ASG. He's been the best reliever in baseball outside of Josh Hader all season.

well not really. you have a guy who hasant walked anyone since april 11th in sean doolitte which set a major league record.

sean doolittle will need a replacement too. sounds like kelvin herrera will replace him

Herrera has pitched a grand total of 7 2/3 innings in the NL. I highly doubt this happens.

I don't think it's "absurd" since they only take four relievers, and they usually don't take setup guys. But since they do have to replace Doolittle, he should be one of the top choices. I think they might take Jeremy Jeffress from the Brewers, though.
