I'm just glad our GM understands to spend money on top tier talent and not load up on bottom 6 players like Jim Benning does.

A mini-slump (2 points in 4 games) then he just comes and blows the doors off. Awesome to see him feed a much needed one to JT tonight.

Unbelievable goal tonight. He’s been a difference maker all year, love what he’s doing on the PK too.

The whining over cap hits is enough, People don't even bother looking at other teams or all roster players.

He and Hyman are a great first pair on the PK. Only forward in the top 50 in minutes.

Was great hearing that the other night prior to the game. Impossible not to appreciate that!

The pros never turned on him, this place is irrelevant to reality. Glad it’s quieted down and we can just enjoy his play, he’s a special kid.

I’m one who thought his contract was an overpayment, and based on comparables, it was. Yet, he’s played to that contract and maybe even more. He’s earning his bucks for sure, elevated his game in every manner.

318 games played 318 career points. Marner joining elite company and is the 3rd youngest player to his PPG in today's NHL behind McDavid and Matthews.

I thought it was too, but it’s pretty easily understood how it got there and if you’re going to bet big, he’s a good bet.

    Fun fact

Marner hit PPG for his career tonight. 318 gp, 318 points. Only 10 active players in the league have career PPG and the leafs have two of them.

I still wish he didn't bend us over for that contract, but I've got over it this year.

We all knew Marner had this in him. He can be a top 3 winger in this league and he is that this year. He wasn't himself last year despite the excuses made for his poor play, but he has turned it on this year.
He and Dubas deserve blame for the contract mess, but this is why you pay your star players. Dubas hasn't sabotoged himself with bad contracts to replacement level and thats what hurts you. Paying your stars won't hurt you.
