I feel there are close to right answers, look how Manitoba dealt with it. We acted swiftly and tomorrow are into stage 2 which is reopening most things to 50% capacity and social distancing.

We are at like 33 active cases in the whole province.

The Canadiens will make the playoffs if the 24 team proposal is approved.

They were swept by Detroit this season.

The NHL is so f***ing stupid.

This is good news for Hak defenders though. They can continue to act like making the playoffs is an impressive feat.

It was impressive when 52% of the teams made the playoffs just imagine when 65% make it!

Engaging with him at all is something I'll never do. He lets his troll flag fly loudly and proudly. I'm hockey illiterate according to him because I "only" share stats.

They won't make the real playoffs, unless they beat Pittsburgh, so I don't see the downside.

Honestly rather go back to the old playoff format/season scheduling if anything.

I hope this kills off the terrible Divisional playoff format going forward.

If they beat Pitt and have momentum anything can happen. Including beating a rusty Flyers team. Either team we play will have advantage coming in, even if we have to play a seeding game.

Flyers would play 3 seeding games if that is in fact the plan they are going with. Montreal/Pits would be a best of 5 if it takes 5. Not a huge difference in games played. It really comes down to which teams and coaches can get back in the groove the fastest after TC and a few games.

Just to make sure this gets seen:

And so it begins......"Ottawa's Minto Skating Centre has been closed due until further notice at the request of authorities due to Covid. Among those who skated on Thursday was Flyers Captain Claude Giroux."

16/21 (~76%) teams made the playoffs in 1991, including a Canucks team that was 15 games below 0.500.

As long is this is just a pandemic special, I am okay with it.... as long as it is safe, which is a concern hurdle I don't think they can jump.

The quality of the games will be different. Pitt will have to fight to get into the playoffs and I’m sure they will. We will be playing for first and hopefully that makes for some intense games.

This age and health range doesn’t really have a large risk. If they are isolating to themselves they aren’t exposing elderly although coaches and staff are at risk. But the players themselves will probably be fine. A lot of them won’t even know they have it until they get tested.

So training camp starts early July. The Cup is handed over late September early October? Next season is going to be screwed up bad.

They will want to have the season done by Labor Day, before football starts. So will the NBA.

next season will start as late as they can get away with because they will be hoping to have fans back.

90-93 was probably the worst period of Flyers history

I've been thinking about that idea just this week and I think I disagree. They generally iced a competitive product and in at least one of those years they were utterly shafted by the divisional format. Outrage over the way some veterans left or were shipped out was tempered by legitimate hope in the youngsters (especially once Lindros was acquired). The game itself was more exciting as a fan of a bad/mediocre team, probably helped by the fighting.

The Berube-Hakstol phase seems so much worse to me. Steady decline with hope relegated to medium and long term, insipid and boring, non-aggressive, non-attacking hockey. Once we identified Hak wasn't going to adjust, and Hexy wasn't going to do anything about it, there was no point in watching.

The 15-16 and 17-18 Flyers, even despite Hak, had enough to be positive about to make them better than any of those years.

15-16 we got to watch the incredible performance of Ghost carry us to the Playoffs.

17-18 Giroux and Couturier went absolutely insane and carried us to the Playoffs.

We had some really great individual performances to watch even during the horrible years of Hak.
