It's almost like one coach held the team back with the usage of bad players, and another coach doesn't cripple his team with bad players.

Well Chayka spent 320 million and hasn't accomplished a single thing. So much for the moneyball guy. Hexy spent 400 and hasn't done any better.

Just because Chayka has an analytics background doesn't make him the poster boy of anything. I can think of about 40,000 hockey guys who f*ck up on the regular too without the same philosophical scrutiny.

Arizona's drafting has been really mediocre; some of his trades have been questionable; his coaching hires have been bad; etc. A lot of these are areas that analytics can't cover well or at all. That also doesn't mean that part of his background (and select decisions informed by it) isn't useful.

Ekholm makes under $4M for the next three seasons after this one. Why would they trade him for Voracek who makes about half more than that & plays winger?

This free agent class is also setting up to be pretty fruitful upfront & they have capspace to play with.

Bob previously was pissed at the suggestion he see a sports psychologist regarding his playoff performances. I don’t blame him; I’d be pissed, too.
