The time to tank is here and gone. We could have gotten a haul for Simmonds and Jake if we traded them when we traded Schenn.

Trading a young/prime Schenn for futures years away....but then not trading Simmonds and Jake at the same time, was just an awful decision.

The decision to "rebuild", but not really rebuild, and compete, but not really compete, has led to the decade of meh. Especially with the ED being a factor in not being able to do certain things you might want.

And now here we are, coming off another disappointing season, and mgt is going to want to make big moves to actually try and make us MUCH better. And the people at the helm have not shown they will come away on the winning side of the moves we make.

That wouldn’t have tanked the team. That was the year Giroux scored 102 points. There’s no tanking without moving him and Couturier.

There is zero beneficial reason to keep AV and the coaching staff around. We need to move on, find someone better and get some life back into this team. If anything, I have zero f***ing idea how Lappy has survived all this time...

True. Erat was 31 at the time compared to 26. Still, this trade could look ugly for the Caps when you add in the 1st and 2nd too. Yzerman is a beast. Detroit will contend again before we do.
