Jason Spezza cleared waivers this year. But he also said he would retire if he was claimed.

Should make a list of these guys.

Even funnier is that you think AV wouldn't dress Perry for 82 games. Half of them would probably be played with Couturier, to boot.

My point was that Stewart/Perry wasn't a binary choice.
Stewart was signed as a 13th forward to sit in the press box (only played 160 minutes, mostly due to injuries)
Perry would be signed as a specialist, PP time, offensive zone starts, and limited minutes to save his legs for high impact situations.

A day that will live in infamy.

Why? Hayes may not have lived up to his contract, but he's not Lucic or Neal, either.
The $7M was pre-COVID, so can't blame anyone for that.
If he was a FA this offseason he'd still land a 5x5 deal.

We don't have a credible alternative at 2C this year, so you'd better root for him.

Perry really is that classical "love or hate" guy. That kind of guy on this team/in the locker room would probably do wonders.. but I still hate him since the Vokoun slash in 2010

What was Jake doing out in the last minute?

He wouldn't be a specialist here. He'd be relied on to be an impact player getting key matches that he shouldn't get. Just like Thompson did.

I hate to say this, but the blatant and shameless favoring of Vegas in these play-offs make me want to see Habs in SCF. It's awful.

For me he is more a "hate to love" guy. He is al lot like Pronger likes to play on the edge of the rule book and often jerkishly pushes this edge way beyond limits. He masterfully gets under one's skin and lives there rent free. Also, his reckless abandonment rubs off on his team mates, and I agree with your locker room sentiment.

As for the flyers, he would not be able to play under AV, who does not preach toughness and edginess.

Yeah, may as well challenge that. At 3-0 the game would be over anyway.
