Montreal is actually getting the better chances at 5v5 so far by a noticeable margin. Price hasn’t been good though while Fleury has.

As underdog you can’t really lose these games where the process is actually in your favor.

It's unfathomable to me that this organization can't recognize how terrible AV was this season and the damage he's done to the franchise. It's clear that the team gave up on him, there were signs early in the season when you had stuff like G and Voracek drawing up PP plays on their own.

You have. a legit shutdown center, a Selke winner, and also a $7M a year PK specialist. That alone should give you a decent PK. You have multiple players on this team who were among the best in the league FOR YEARS on the PP, and the PP was retched. Gerard Gallant was running 5-forward PPs with great success in Vegas, meanwhile AV puts his already overworked "No. 1" defenseman, objectively one of the worst PP producers in the league, on PP1 permanently. But sure let's pretend deployment doesn't matter.

You have an all-time goalie prospect who is fundamentally sound and never had a bad year in his life put in a disastrous season.

You have multiple high picks who were established as solid NHL contributors who all of a sudden flatlined or regressed.

I haven't seen a more obvious coaching disaster since Kotite's 'My record speaks for itself" and then going from 7-2 to 7-9.

Everyone in this organization needs to go.

There isn’t really a distinguishable difference between the first & second units on the PP. Which is the issue. The ice time & usage is essentially split in half. Therrien essentially arranges players around like deck chairs with no regard even in game let alone through multiple games.

Just truly stupid shit. That somehow is going to go unchecked.

Gallant made the playoffs 3 times in his career (which is fine for a coach who has only coached full seasons 5 times even though he's going to be 58 I guess), twice with Fleury as his goalie, and the other with Luongo, both of whom are absolutely going to the hall of fame. You're not successful for any period of time in this league unless you have goaltending.

There's a whole ton of recency bias with Vigneault around here. Everyone hated his Canucks teams with a passion even though he was undermanned depth-wise (they also talked a ton of shit on the ice). And I remember the Rangers werent much fun to play against since they beat us like all the time, didn't we lose like 15 games in a row at MSG or something? Sure he makes mistakes, but all this stuff where the Flyers started settling for point shots and defense backing off and generally playing Hakstolian is not nor has ever his game either.

This is all so weird. He was a legitimately terrible coach in New York in his last few years. Worse than he was this year here.

I get that you have a vague memory of him doing something, but I lived in market and went to more Rangers games than Flyers by a mile in that period. He was worse than Hakstol ever was. Yes, accounting for talent levels. I’m very happy he improved from that level, but no, you don’t get to whitewash that shitshow because the Canucks were good a decade ago.

Gallant was fired in Florida b/c he was a dinosaur who preferred big, slow physical defensemen and hated analytics.
In fact, he got fired in both Florida and Vegas 22 and 49 games into his 3rd season, both times after making the playoffs the previous year.
You have to be special to piss off two GMs in 4 years to that extent.
Gallant’s players seem to really like him.

His relationships with general managers seem to deteriorate quickly.

Gallant prioritizes size & physical play, & he complained in FL & Vegas about needing more size.

His last two GMs also cited inconsistency & failure to meet high expectations in their mid-season decisions to fire him.
