I don't think any. I think they just sign contracts.

The Pirates own the Bradenton Marauders, Bristol Pirates, and, of course, their Gulf Coast League team and Dominican Summer League (DSL) team.

They don't own the West Virginia Black Bears, but considering the strings the team pulled to put that team in WVU's new stadium they're effectively under the Pirates control. The Indianapolis Indians, Altoona Curve, and West Virginia Power are are separate entities entirely, though it's hard to imagine the affiliation with the Curve being severed any time soon given proximity and relationship.
