Expansion I would think. Back up goalies rarely get term like that. Not like he's young either.

Hey now, we worked hard at negotiating and finalizing this deal. What the tweet doesn't disclose is that Alex is also a member of the Jelly of the Month club for those 3 years as well. You can't put on a price on that.

Koskinen is actually pretty good but yeah, I get your point.

Stalock has been ok, though is not a threat to Dubnyk, and won't be blocking any up and coming G. He signed the deal because he is a MN boy, and loves it here.
Very popular with the players, understands his role. And is one of the best puckhandling goalies I have ever seen.

Why? His agent just got a 31yo fringe AHL/NHL goalie $2.35m and he gets to stay in his hometown.

He hits the open market and he'd be looking at less than $1m on a 1 year (probably 2-way) contract.
