Our local(Turku,Finland) newspaper's ice hockey journalist has been in Denver writing stories about Rantanen for few days now. Rantanen said for example that he hopes that he gets a long contract with the Avs next year so he can buy a own house for him self from Denver.
This was regarding Dater's "news" that Rantanen wants a bridge deal.

How much are y'all speculating he's gonna get paid? Laine is gonna get at the absolute least 7 million even though his best scoring season is only 70p. Although not to disregard the fact he scored 36 goals as a rookie, 44 as a sophomore, and now on pace for 50 on his contract year.

Would 8-8.5 mil be reasonable for Mikko? Most players aren't greedy but they still understandably want the amount of their market worth.

12 million would be reasonable looking only at pure market value. However i think it will be 9,6 for 8 years.

Mikko being fined for diving : Avalanche forward Mikko Rantanen fined by NHL for diving - Sportsnet.ca

But they won't do s*** when this happens in playoffs where it could cost the team losing that serie. Remember this one guys ? https://www.bardown.com/fans-called...raw-penalties-in-game-2-against-avs-1.1057248
Colorado Avalanche Get Questionable Officiating in Playoffs

They don't call all the hooking and holding he has to deal with either. That's probably why he's starting to embellish. Same thing happened with Forsberg. These big strong power forwards don't get rewarded for playing through it, like they're supposed to.

It's the same dumb rationale the refs have for not calling obvious penalties when a team is up a couple goals. All it does is punish the better teams and players.

This is something MacK is going to have to get over too. It clearly gets to him sometimes. I have to admit it's been especially infuriating this season with Mikko and MacK. So I don't blame them much.

I don't know if North American people know the Rantanen story from 2015. He was playing with TPS at the time and they didn't make it to the playoffs. Due to his age, he was able to play for TPS junior team. The junior team coach didn't contact Mikko because he thought he wouldn't come. Mikko himself called the coach asking if he could join the team. The rest is history. TPS won the first junior title in 20 years, Rantanen was MVP. Normally, the attendance in junior games is only a couple of hundred per game. TPS plays in Gatorade Center (11820 capacity). The snowball effect grew and grew. The third final game and 10400 fans came. To a junior game. In the middle of an ordinary working week. The Turku people knew it would be the last chance to see him live. That's why they made the new attendance record which will probably never be broken.

Mikko´s strength coach Hannu Rautala is known as a real wizard here in Finland. Speaking of ass, he mentioned last year that Mikko´s already got "the biggest ass in the NHL". Rautala coaches Laine, Ristolainen as well and look at the shape they are in. Many Finnish NHL players contact "Rautsi", because everybody knows his skills. The future top5 NHL 2019 draft pick Kaapo Kakko started to train with Rautala already at the age of 16. I used to work at the same school with Rautala over 10 years ago. He was training defenseman Joni Pitkänen at the time. When he went back to Philly after summer to attend the training camp, the Philly staff couldn´t believe his condition. It was outstanding. Rautala has a very big role in Mikko´s development as a player.
