Congrats Koskinen! Stonewalled the Hawks tonight. 40 save shutout.

Massive sigh of relief from Oiler fans to see he can play at this level. He was terrible in the preseason but he was good in his first start against the Preds and excellent tonight. He’s earned a bigger piece of the pie, starts wise.

He's legit. How good he ends up being in the NHL remains to be seen, but on big ice he has a fairly impressive resume.

Probably still could have paid him a little less for an unknown but that takes some of the sting out of the contract.

He’s just a giant, plays well up top too. And lateral movement as well is looking good. Solid pick up.

Sports.

I really don't want to see Talbot starting 70+ games this season. Its got to take a lot of gas out of guy playing that much. Oilers will be better off if they have a solid 1-2 in net going into the playoffs. Ideally 50 games for Talbot and 32 games for Koskinen, i'm hoping anyways.

Reminded me of Pekka Rinne tonight. Big Finnish goalie... well positioned and they move very similar.

He has played very well lately... didn't start out so well in pre-season. Hopefully that was just him adjusting to the different shooting angles on the smaller NA ice.

Cautiously optimistic.

Congrats Mikko!

First NHL shut-out, first shut-out for Edmonton this season, and he made it look easy
I love watching him, his poise and puck tracking is excellent

I was surprised to see him struggle in the preseason because he is a legit talent. Maybe he's getting acclimitated to narrower rink now.

5th times a charm for Edmonton in finding a suitable backup goaltender and possible 1B.

I mean yeah, he hasn't played in North America much, but dude was paid pretty well in KHL, won two cups, was elected the best goalie in the league etc. so it's not like he's some unknown.

He's pretty good at keeping the hockey puck out of the net. He really needs to work on his rebound control though , that is his Achilles heel.
