This thread is an indication that many HFers have no idea how to value players. Negative value? Really?
He's absolutely awful defensively, and this if reflected in whichever shot metric you choose (even ones taking into account shot quality). Additionally, most of his offense is reliant on a boatload of PP minutes.
So for 4 million, you're getting a guy who is a big liability at even-strength and needs to be fed PP time to produce. That sounds like a negative-value contract to me.
I have zero doubt a guy like Nic Petan would be a better NHLer than Boedker if given the same opportunities, and he's going to be on the waiver wire next season. A team should not be giving up assets to acquire him.
