Where does he say he'd like to play for the Leafs? He says he likes the Leafs but it doesn't matter, when the the time comes.

Leafs turning the organization into a bit of a Russian haven. Very couchy organization with the best of everything, plus a solid Russian population in the city. Makes sense if they start to flock here and could make for a great pipeline for the Leafs.

My wife goes to this manicurist, she just moved from d-t, says she was doing nails of 3 wives of hockey players. She knows nothing about them, but said 2 Nikitas and Alexei.

And I'd like to play for the New York Yankees, live at the Playboy mansion, vacation with Richard Branson…

Why does it matter he went undrafted?

It does not, but the if the Leafs were really interested, they probably would have drafted him.

His stats do not jump out, especially for his size. Maybe in 5 years, but you can say that about so many guys.

Why not just go after Manukyan? Over tripled his point production in only 6 extra games and what's really the difference between 5'7" 139 and 5'9" 154 when you see the huge production difference. Although this is beyond the purpose of the thread.

CSKA was Zaitsev's team right? probably looked up to Zaitsev and follows his career at the leafs. It doesnt say anything about wanting to play fpr the leafs just that he likes them. Just like McDavid liked the leafs in his younger days.

Undrafted in two NHL drafts.

Bozak, Cujo, Belfour, Salming, S.Thomas, Zaitsev, just a few of Leafs affiliated players who went undrafted. Dozens more through out the league. It only matter what this kid does going forward.

Toronto has a lot going for it that many other teams can't match. Location, culture, political stability, and a team on the rise of contention.

So naturally the league will shut down right at in the prime for a couple years for a lock out or the apocalypse will occur. :sarcasm:

You people are acting like someone started this thread to say as if the next Gretzky said he would sign with us.

No one said such a thing so dont reply in a way as if it was said.

It doesnt take a genius to find out maybe Leafs dont look at undrafted aspect as the only thing. I know shockingly maybe Leafs look at other things too.
If sticking with undrafted, we have at least 3 prospects who were undrafted and they look promising right now.

Either that or some are complaining because he doesnt weigh 230 pounds, and yes there are some clear anti size people around here.

Maybe they dont feel the player you suggested is very good? Or arent interested as a result of the reason mentioned above?

Let's not forget the GM is Fedorov Shannahan's old buddy. I think there is a reason why we are lurking around CSKA and that's the Shannahan Fedorov connection.
Thanks for Zaitsev. Please add Ozhiganov to the list and anything up and coming that will make us better

It's actually a bit amusing how fast some imprint on a name. There's nothing suggesting there's anything special about this player at this time. 6th on his junior team in scoring. Way way down the scoring list for his league.
If an undrafted player on the London Knights tweeted that he wanted to play for the Leafs, nobody would care.

he better really bulk up or watch some Johnny Hockey videos on how to bend the refs ears if he wants to make it to the NHL at that size
