I could bet 50 euros for Haula ending up better in the NHL than Granlund. Granlund has been avoiding the goal scoring zones after the numerous concussions and he is still a lot slower than Haula. Just prediction :)

I'll take that bet.

Cant understand why cause his offense could be utilized more in that case maybe w defensive center Koivu and top winger Parise... That'd be a line!

In Europe maybe. Here, a wing needs to either be a scoring threat, or able to grind along the boards and shake pucks loose for his linemates. Also, he has to SHOOT THE PUCK, or have a C that is a shoot first( which Koivu is not) player. Granlund does none of the things above very well.

On top of all that, we are short C's on the team. Till we get someone better, Granlund is a C.

Unfortunately, I think Haula has had concussion problems also. I worry about both players having shortened careers.

A very quick perusal of TOI shows that Haula has 570 min, Granlund 1054. Of those, Haula is going to have more PK time, Granlund PP time. Haula has 34% O zone starts, Granlund in the 50's.

You can make stats say say just about anything. Granlund probably has faced tougher competition... But then, he's been playing with better, usually FAR better, if you include PP, linemates.

I do think that Haula is a better defensive player already. Comparing them offensively is kind of pointless right now. They have completely different roles on the team. If Haula can get Poms going somehow( which I doubt), then he deserves a medal.

It will be a nice problem for the team if there is a debate over who is better. That will mean that Haula is playing his ass off.

Granny frustrates the hell outta me. You're not a grinder. Get to open space and shoot or pass. I feel like he's the biggest Yeobot on the team

I know Granlund has been a bit of a scapegoat this season, but Granlund is miles ahead of Haula overall.

He frustrates me most when he holds onto the puck too long. I don't doubt his heart, though, and that goes a long way with me. If he had two hot shot wingers, one with size, it would help his game a lot. He can't change his frame much, nor his speed. The only thing that he can change is his shot. That is something that you don't have to be a natural at. It just takes lots, and lots, of work.

He holds puck too long because he has lost confidence. When he plays with instinct he's a really good, unpredictable and fast passer. Now he tries to play with smarts, but it doesn't come within. And it shows, in a bad way.

Confidence is everything... and once you lose it, it's really hard to get back :(

I still think regardless, he should be traded.

Do it this off season while his value is still moderate.
This kid will not have a long career. I can feel it.

1+1. 1st star.

I hope he tears up the rink so we get a good return in the summer.

Any psychic **** should definitely seal the deal. The bust is gone.

Personally, I love seeing the kid drive the net. He's done it a lot the last three games, just missed out on two goals, and was rewarded with one last night.
