I always thought he was way older. Now I realize I was sort of confusing him with his father. No idea he was related to the Clooneys.

RIP

Great veteran actor who could play a variety of roles

Sleezy d-bag = Check
Villian = Check
Good guy = Check
Weird guy = Check

I will best remember him probably for stuff like The Stand , Deepstar Six , Robocop and various TV shows including multiple episodes of Tales from the Crypt

when I think of my childhood prototipical villain actors in Hollywood action movies, it's this guy and Robert Davi.

I know the name but honestly can't recognize the face. That said, I've possibly and in some cases probably or definitely seen him in the following:
Magnum P.I. (1981 episode)
CHiPs (1983 episode)
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
Robocop
Hot Shots! Part Deux
Lie to Me (2009 episode)
Iron Man 3

...and heard his voice in Mulan as Shen-Yu.

Not unusual for me not to notice every character actor, but seems like I should have in this case.

He was so funny when he'd get pissed as a good guy, great bad guy as well. One of those actors who made everything and anything he was in 1,000,000x better. Loved him in Robocop and Twin Peaks. RIP.

Then and there
damn liked him in Twin Peaks and the Stand, was really good in both.

Me too, I don't recall watching him in anything since those two, but he played the characters in them to perfection.

Back then, for some reason I though he was Mel Ferrer's son.
