Just curious, is he one of those players that is worth more to the current organization than he is on the market (based off draft position) or would Islanders fans be open to moving him for a player of equal to slightly higher value?

Yeah I don't get the impression that Islanders fans have much hope for him at this point. The kind of prospect that just doesn't have the skills or talent to be a "he just needs to put it all together" type of guy that you hold out for.

I remember a couple years into Luke Schenn's illustrious career thinking "how the hell did anyone think this guy had the skills to be a top-5 pick?". But just like Dal Colle, that's where he was ranked. Sometimes you just get a dud.

To answer the OP's question, yes, he's worth more to the Isles than he is on the current market. His value's probably around where someone said, around what Yakupov got. So a fourth rounder.

If he was available, I'd hope the Oilers were in on him. He still has a year of waiver exemption left, which means they could work with him to see if he could be a good compliment to one of McDavid or Draisaitl's games. We'll send back the pick you sent us in the Davidson deal.

His value to NYI is not very high at all, but his value to the rest of the league is even lower than that. Some scout who liked him at the draft will convince the GM that hes a reclamation project and they'll trade for him. For reference see Edmonton trading for Reinhart. I just pray the value isnt the same.

I can still see Dal Colle having professional success but he needs a change to jump start that.

One of those guys who’ll be traded for peanuts for a new shot.

If we didn't have such a logjam on forward (see overpaid veteran signings), I could totally see Benning overpaying for him.

He'll fetched a late pick for a team to see if a change helps but other than that the kid is a long shot to be a full time NHLer.

Crazy to think of all the LWs (listed at draft) that went after him: Ehlers, Ritchie, Fiala, Perlini, Vrana all went in the 8 picks following Dal Colle. Other than Vrana (94) they've all played 130+ games and have 50+ points, Vrana (33) meanwhile Dal Colle's only stat that isnt a 0 is his 4 NHL games played.

This is so very sad.

I can't believe he was drafted in 2014. It seems like 10 years since he was drafted to me in my mind.

Islanders have a high success rate in getting busts in the top-5, must say, it is a quality that should be brought more about Snow, he finds the top en busts, and saves everyone from them, except Oilers.... they crave them more then I crave chocolate.

Nobody wants to hear this , but maybe he just needs to play with some skilled guys to get the best out of him because he's sure as hell not going to drive the play on his own .

And it cost Garth his job. Hell, if Tavares had enjoyed earlier success as an islander (something possible if we hadn't whiffed on Nino, Reinhart, Strome, MDC) he probably wouldn't have wanted to leave as bad. So it cost us Tavares too.

Dont see him as a top 6 in the nhl but if he somehow could become a pest/pk specialist then maybe for the bottom 6. Wouldn't bet on it however IMO.

I wouldn't see a negative for a rebuilding team to acquire him for a late pick and give him some more ice time ...ottawa looking at you.

That's the only hope left for him. He's never been a create-your-own offense guy, and BPT's centers have been dog shit.
