I dont know, maybe I just dont get the economics and I am naive but baseball contracts to me seem dumb AF.

Basketball = Easily worth it to pay one of the best players
Football = Easily worth it to pay a top tier QB
Hockey = 50/50
Baseball = can a player make that much of a difference?

Exactly, the days of worrying about the Mets' payroll are over barring some insane change in the next CBA that drastically curtails spending.

Plus the Mets needed to do this after their whole offseason looked like a pile of whatifs and mighthavebeens, and Lindor really needed to sign too given the uncertain financial/CBA landscape and glut of FA SS's this offseason.
