When Hamilton Dukes we’re a brutal team the leauge invited the OHL Kitchener to replace them after they lost the OHL championship. But the Memorial Cup tournament remained in Hamilton so,far it the only MC I have attended.

It's a tournament, just like any other tournament. Teams get in without being champions of their league and upsets happen.
