It was suggested running Caggiula or Cammy with McDavid and Pulju, but at this point if you want a skill line why not put Strome there? I also don't mind the idea of re-interoducing Pakman and/or even Malone to the lineup.

Get away from the small and slow plugs like Cammy, Letestu, and even Caggiula to a point, and focus on size.

Strome-McDavid-Puljujarvi
Lucic-RNH-Slepyshev
Maroon-Draisaitl-Kassian
Khaira-Malone-Pakarinen.

If you want to be a physical team, then build like it, and get a minimum of 2 210ib+ guys on each line outside of McDavid's (and even they Strome and Puljujarvi aren't really "small")

However the coaches here must love NHL 94, as you commonly see the Fat, medium, small style line set through out the lineup...

Caggiula-Letestu-Kassian
Maroon-RNH-Cammy
Lucic-RNH-Eberle
Maroon-McDavid-Yamamoto
The list goes on...

All are poorly thought out lines, as no one really complements one another, and it shows in their performance.

The questions are valid in the sense that they're things that the coaching staff has control over, but if we're being honest, David Staples has zero pull and is the most minor of sports "media" in this city. He's made himself a nice little home with the Journal via his "Cult of Hockey" gig, but nobody of any import gives a damn about what he has to say. Tempest in a teapot.

Spec, Gregor, Stauffer, Rishaug, Neilsen all talking about it and have been talking about it.

Sure, those guys are talking about it...but as you said, nobody is directly putting McLellan's feet to the fire in a visible way so far. There's a lot of nibbling and pecking around the edges during the pre- and post-game pressers, but that's all.

And that's probably all there will be in this market.

As other have said, Staples isn't really in a position to really question McLellan or Oilers management. But, these are reasonable questions. Many that I would love to hear answers to. Maybe some Edmonton media could relay some at his firing press conference? :)
