I figured this deserved it's own thread.

Per Dreger this morning, he's speculat9ing McDavid will have a hearing (doesn't specify by phone or in-person) for his hit on Leddy last night.

Personally, I think he gets a game. I'm conditioned to seeing the Oilers get BS calls against them and non-calls, and seeing they play Anaheim next, the league makes him sit out the next one.

While I agree with what Remenda said that if they would've called the play at the other end the hit wouldn't happen, I don't necessarily agree with that line of thinking. That's a whole different issue the league needs to look at.

I'd be surprised if McDavid got anything, but could be a warning. That and Leddy had zero injury and was ready to go on the PP until he was pulled off.

Which brings up a whole new question. Should it not be automatic that anytime there is a hit to the head penalty that the guy that was hit goes off?

If Anders Lee gets nothing for slashing Nurse in the face, and the wasn’t a hooking penalty called in the neutral zone on the Islanders while McDavid was carrying the puck about 10 seconds before this, then the NHL’s consistency of officiating/disciplinary action should say this deserves about 10 games.

I think he gets a maximum fine. No injury on the play, no ill intent but still a head shot. McDavid has no previous record. Call on the ice was 2 minutes. That screams fine this time
Didn't even seem like Trotz was all that mad either.

I don’t want to see him suspended but I also want to tank, so don’t really matter what happens imo

I really didn't think it was that bad, at all. Like is this the kind of stuff we are suspending guys for now? Ridiculous. There was zero malicious intent. He literally coasts into him with a shoulder that happened to catch a small portion of his head.

Mckenzie was using Cogliano as a comparison to McDavid, mainly citing no prior history. This is the hit which Cogliano got suspended for a pair.

Clearly more predatory in my opinion and a full two seconds after Kempe got rid of the puck. Leddy has his head down, fumbling with a bouncing puck and the hit is nearly instantaneous when he gets the puck off his stick and McDavid hits him.

Mckenzie is out to lunch with his two games theory.

Shannon now saying it'll be a phone hearing so somewhere in the area of a fine-one game.

Malkin swings his stick at another guy’s head and gets one ****ing game and they think this is worth two? **** off.

Two hey? I was thinking max fine. Yikes.

I used to think McKenzie rooted for all Canadian teams and was kind of a national ambassador. His Kelly Hrudey level bias really shone through with his assessment/comparison.

Meh likely deserves a game or 2. They might just max fine him though. You never really know with the NHL wheel of justice.

He probably deserves a suspension, not sure if he meant to do it. Hes probably just frustrated that teams are allowed to grab, hold, do whatever they want to him and the league never does anything.

For concussion protocol? I kind of thought it already was with the concussion spotters in attendance and any impactful hit to the head warranted 10 minutes in the quiet room.
