DD didn't take many beatings, he was not the one on the line responsible for puck retrieving or battles.
It was Cole when they were put together. After that Patches played that style until he decided to change things up as he was getting injured too often. Then it mostly became Gallagher.

Congratulations for your future new contract Maximillian Kolenda Pacioretty, your are the only goal scorer in this team(with Gally). After Weber, Price, Shaw, Alzner, another great contract to have.

So with Max dumping Brisson and hiring Walsh, do you think it's to work on an extension with Montreal or to help facilitate a trade and signing with another club?

Personally I believe he doesn’t wanna play elsewhere and he got Walsh to work out the best deal for him and the Habs
Huge mistake. He needs to be gone

    It happened today.

I don't remember who his agent was before, but after he signed his 4.5M contract, he fired the agent that worked that deal. He went with Brisson. Brisson and his agency never worked on a contract for Max. But now that he's due an extension, he went with Walsh. So basically, Brisson was like holding the position down for the next guy.

Strange that he dumped Brisson. In any case, Walsh is just as good.

Maybe his agents are telling him the realistic scenario and he has an over inflated opinion of himself so he fires them. I can still see Bergevin giving him 8x8

Honestly, do not understand why he is still on the team. He won't age well and his value is not going to get any higher.

    Timing seems odd....

Do you think both an LA and SJ trade were contingent on an extension which Brisson was unable to negotiate? Might be why he switched agents?

    Timing is odd...

So rumours of a LA trade, including that Max’s camp was negotiating with LA (unconfirmed)

Rumours of a SJ trade, who are in on Tavares and probably don’t want to overpay Max but would need to know they can resign him if they trade for him.

Both fall through (or don’t come to fruition)

Bergevin is seen having a lengthy discussion with Walsh.

Pacioretty drops Brisson and goes with Walsh.

I can’t imagine Montreal signing Max now, this ship has sailed imo. It’s known we are trying to move him and I don’t see how we come back tbh..Even if we wanted to resign him, there is zero rush to do so....I don’t think Bergevin was taking to Walsh about an extension..

Maybe. But mostly he benefited from everyone : danault, radulov, etc who all won those puck battles...DD was an elite passer though

Allan Walsh does not like Montreal GMs, so no I don't think so. I think someone just wants 7 or 8 years mordicus and teams are offering 4 years only.

I still think Pacioretty will be traded. The hold up on the market was teams that were interested in Kovalchuk and would be in Tavares wanted to see how those two cases would play out. Some teams had cleared cap space for either Kovalchuk and possibly Tavares. So they don't want to use it up on a Pacioretty extension. It's the same reason why Skinner hasn't been moved yet possibly.

LA's prime target was Kovalchuk. Those teams that struck out on him may circle back to Habs. And teams who will learn they're out on JT and/or Skinner will also circle back to Habs. I still think Max is getting dealt.

I am going to be the contrarian and say that Pacioretty should be overpaid. Guys like Weise, Desharnais, and Danault all benefitted from his production. He turned others into gold, so why shouldn't he not get some of his own gold?

Makes sense I guess, maybe Max felt he was close to making a deal?

We held onto Max a couple of years too long. We should have moved him instead of PK, but this is where we are at now. Going to be hard to extract fair value now, I don't trust MB to be the one driving this.

Clearly he wasn't happy that the trade fell because of is unofficial negociations when kovalchuck sign and they both share a agent so he is switch agent...

Either signs an extension july 1st or he's dealt at the deadline.

And I don't expect much past a late 1st + meh prospect if he's dealt between now and the deadline.

He should have been traded at trade deadline.
