We actually played awful and brought little emotion or effort to this game.
Our breakouts and management of the puck are still big issues and need to be addressed if we plan on going anywhere.
Matthews is an absolute stud but even so he was quiet 5 and 5 and Nylander missing definitely showed up in our overall team speed.
Brown was invisible to me offensively and turned the puck over a few times. I think he should spend some time on the 4th line and PK.
Hainseys play and moreso lack of footspeed is really concerning.

Great to win the game but it was extremely ugly and especially the work ethic shown was disappointing.

Lots of cleanup to be done. Defense was lost all game, and I didn't like the wingers' game in general.

Matty and JT doing work. Kadri had a good game too. Freddy was huge.

Habs were hungry, Price and Domi played well.

Didn't play well and won...we weren't even close to being good tonight and popped three goals on one of the best goalies in the league.

The Leafs just did not get up for this game. Hopefully they don't take bad lineups lightly. 2015 Leafs were shit but worked their asses off.

Turns out talent CAN beat hard work on some given nights.

Effort needs to be better going forward no doubt. It seems Hainsey's poor play in the final quarter of last year and playoffs wasn't just due to being overplayed. Something needs to be done about our breakout strategy to, we went through painful stretches tonight. Against a more talented team we'll pay dearly.

Take the win, rest up, get in the right mindset for Saturday. Maybe add a certain Swede to the lineup before then to.

Luckily won on talent. Bad effort but first game. Andy played well. No point in digging to deep into their play. Need about 10 games at least but defensively still looked lackluster obviously. We'll see. Need a way bigger effort though. That doesn't work come playoffs.
