Fair enough, but you know how this goes. The Leaf fans will vote for AM, the rest of hockey fans will vote for Drai LOL. The usual suspects will come in try to derail the thread.

It is clear as day now, as opposed to a few years ago. Matthews doesn't even have a solid goal-scoring argument over him, which is literally the only thing he has on him. Drai has 2x the goals AM has in the same amount of games so far.

The obvious counter-argument relates to how much assistance Draisaitl gets from playing with the best player in the world, either when they are paired up during regular play, or if not, on the PP.

It's unfair perhaps, but Malkin had to deal with it as well.

Matthews career high is 80pts. He's only hit 75pts 1x in his career. Last 3 seasons Drai has hit 84 (in 56 GP), 110 and 105. About to blast past 100 again. Unlike Matthews "pace", Drai has actually scored 50 goals in a season. Hart winner, lindsay winner, 1st AST. Tbh Drai is in a different tier.

It's pretty amazing how much Draisaitl is improving each year. I think Matthews might have more raw talent but he's not the player Drai is at the moment.

Haven’t seen threads where this was debated. Did however see the claim Tavares > Drai yesterday however.

I think Draisaitl is better, but the posts about Matthews’ career high being 80 points with no mention of games played, nor his pace in the shortened season, but then make note that Draisaitl scored so much “in 56 games!” are pretty idiotic
