Matthews. the difference between him and the other guys is better than the difference between a 4th liner and a slightly better 4th liner

I think Point is the best player here so I'll take him, this is probably the only thing I'd agree with Dom on - Point has top 5 hockey IQ in the league

Elite talent is what puts teams over the top and Matthews is the most elite of the bunch.

Eh, toss up. Even if salaries were equal, it'd be tough. I'd probably go with Matthews here, since we need a superstar #1C. Hertl/Couture/Pavelski are great and all, but not that level. No bad choice.

dubas isnt there to give him 10+ mil

The markets already set, it was set by Chia with the McDavid/Draisaitl contracts that changed the way players leave their ELC.

If Draisaitl got 8.5 (or 11.3 cap%) after a 77 point season as McDavid's winger why would point not ask for slightly more, say 12.5 cap% or ~10.4 mill, after a near 100 point season as the #1 C on the best team in the league.

Difference is those were for 8 years. Plus Draisaitl has outproduced Matthews every year they’ve been in the NHL together. He’s a closer comaparable than McDavid is for Matthews.

Dubarelli got taken to the woodshed on a 5 year deal for Matthews.

Matthews is over a PPG first line C, playing with worse linemates. Draisaitl is largely playing on McDavids wing. That isnt even considering the difference in PPTOI where Matthews has played 100 fewer minutes this season, or over 1 minute per game played.

Was torn between Point & Marner, both great players who step up in the playoffs unlike AM34 and aren't injury prone like AM34.. went with Point as he's centre.
