It would be something to see other local kids coming up through the organization. While the development area is much more densely populated, we have seen how local kids will skate through walls playing for the Bruins over the years.

So both of those videos, show good hands, and great movement. So perhaps I was wrong, to judge this so harshly.

Okay...cool...but how does that compare to 50 other kids who aren’t going to make the NHL?

In a recent radio interview with a St. Catharines station, Matteo said he's billeting with Scott Niedermayer (a couple of his kids are also playing for Penticton). That can only be a good thing...getting to pick the brain of a Stanley Cup champion, Olympic gold medalist and HOF'er.

Tony Amonte's son is also on that team.

Wonder if he’s thinking about moving to Sioux City, who took him third overall in the USHL Entry Draft.
He’s in a good spot in Penticton, especially being able to live with the Niedermayer family, but a lot of BCHL kids are being pursued by the USHL now that the season has been delayed multiple times.

I have serious doubts that both the BCHL and WHL will be able to have a season. If the W is able to they'll have to relocate the BC teams. Our health minister isn't going to open us up anytime soon. Even if she allows us to play hockey again in February, it'll be back to local games only, so no travelling anywhere for games. Penticton to West Kelowna/Kelowna is 40-60 minutes and kids teams weren't allowed to travel there for games when we first got the restrictions put in place. If he wants to play again this year he'll have to go USHL imo.
At best, we'll do the cohort groups again and Penticton will get to play the 3 other interior okanagan based teams.

Looks like a broken clock is right twice a day after all
I figured with the transfer deadline being today, we’d likely see a move and he’s one of the most high-profile players in the league, so it was kind of inevitable.

Would have much preferred Penticton if it was workable, but alas..
If today is the transfer deadline does that mean no other players can transfer into the USHL? So no CHL players after today if they fold? Or will they come up with an exemption if that happens?

Yes, today is supposedly the deadline for any player whose card is held by Hockey Canada (so any CHL or CJHL player, even those on US-based teams under those umbrellas) to transfer to the USHL, and I have not seen any indication of that being changed.

However, some teams are currently refusing to release players until the season is cancelled and there’s been a lot of pushback from teams about the tactics used to get kids to commit to a move, so I wouldn’t be surprised to the restriction thrown away for a season, as there will undoubtedly be pushback from all parties involved.
