If only they had done it 6 months. I feel bad for whoever hires him next and someone will.

Bud Black should be #1 on their list.

Please make them think that he is the only reason for their terrible season. Their roster has issues that need to be addressed.

rizzo already said he has to address the bullpen which would be his #1 goal.

but they are gonna have a ton of money to use this offseason depending on what they do with their free agents

The Giants, Rangers, Yankees, and Cardinals all had serious injuries issues as well. They all finished with better records in much better divisions. The NL East is terrible, yet they were only 4 games over .500. 83 wins, 83 wins. That is the same amount as the Twins. This was supposed to be World Series champion.

Who would they spend that money on? Heyward I guess, as they could put him in CF. But would they really pay another pitch >30 what they already gave Scherzer?

will be interesting, they can always put harper in center (played there a good bunch) and go after a cespdes (who they were rumored to be going after at deadline) that would put the money that was gonna do to desmond into an outfielder and put top prospect trea turner at ss

but someone is also gonna get the zimmermann money if he doesnt resign and they can choose from cueto, price, grienke (if he opts out) leake, even kennedy or latos. a lot of starting pitchers to choose from

now the bullpen will be tricky as there really arent that many good relief pitchers available outside clippard, benoit and o'day so maybe trades there. craig stammen coming back will be huge

all speculation but with the money they would free up (assuming none come back) for desmond, zimmermann, fister and span is huge and can get some good players if rizzo wants and if the players want to come to dc.

Of course the roster has issues and the roster will be different next year anyhow given free agency.

There are some decisions to be made and clearly this down year wasn't a coincidence and several players had notably worse years than 2014.

Nats were harder hit than all those teams. Rendon was a massive loss.

Also don't underestimate how bad a team can be when they tune out on the manager.

if we wanna discuss injuries (and every team has them, congrats mets for winning fair and square)

span, werth, zimmerman and rendon were out each about 3 months. thats your 1,2,3,5 guys in your batting lineup. 2 games all year with their supposed opening day roster. again injuries happen to everyone but the nats were hit hard just like everyone else as was stated above. having one of those guys healthy could have changed the season but that can be said for any team

imo no team can survive missing all their top offensive guys except harper for that long and stay over .500
