will be very interesting. krug holds all the cards. if he wants to sign here, he'll
make it work. depends on how badly he wants to stay, because he's obviously
getting more term and money elsewhere.

gryz's progress has been fun to watch. even if they sign krug, i assume nothing
will go down until june.

I think if Krug resigns, they will have to make a hard decision on Chara, who's playing close to '13 Chara ( the last year before the slow decline ) than he has at any point since.

i always assumed Z would be back next year. i guess vaakanainen is likely ready for next
year as well. as much as i dislike it (and mostly everyone seems to agree), don't see how
they'll have both krug and gryz on the team past june.

Even without expansion, Gryz is probably getting more of a raise than Krug next season. Don't know how they afford it.

I came to the Grizz thread hoping to read how much everyone likes him. Instead people want to trade him! Why can't we just be happy with and enjoy the players we do have?

how much you thinking for gryz? he's a weird guy to figure out contract wise. not a ton of
points, not a crazy amount of ice time. eye test adds up. underlying numbers too. maybe
$4M on a long term deal?

It’s his 3rd contract so some UFA years. That seems about right. But who knows. Really hard to read.

Trading Krug is insane. If the B's were out of the playoff picture, then maybe. But he's a critical piece, both in terms of skill and team chemistry, for a deep playoff run. So even if they lose him for nothing after the season, which is by no means a sure thing, they must keep him for the rest of this season.

Bruins need both Krug and Gryz, Gryz to me is the better long-term option given their ages and likely next contracts, but Krug is immense. The best scenario is that they are able to keep both.

This guy puts my 80/20 rule to the test - dogs, pizza, breasts, roller coasters.....but who doesn’t like Matt Grzelcyk?

You don’t sign Krug you have to protect him. The Occasional Grzelcyk-McAvoy pairing is direct from hockey heaven.

He stays he wears the ‘A’ before he’s done.

On my All Time favorite team

He’s made some plays at the blue line the last few games that you don’t see often from any defenseman. Spinning passes to the other defenseman. Unbelievable puck control. Glad we didn’t trade him for Schenn haha

Two small D is tough. Last year they got pounded in the finals. Hate to say it, the playoffs are more physical and there is less room. Big D can wear a forward down. The Bruins aren’t tough about giving as they are tough about taking abuse. I’d rather have them be the instigators in this respect.
I do like Grzelcyk and his hockey IQ. Do you keep on with two small D?

Against the Canes? Absolutely. I think the speed of Grzelcyk and Clifton really help against the fast team like the Canes. If they play a team like Washington and it’s not working they can always put Lauzon back in.

In the finals.

They got to game 7 of the finals with two small defensemen. And Krug was the teams leading scorer in the finals.

Yes and they lost to a bigger team. That’s my point. Big teams win the cup. Hate to say it.
