When Dana White pushed for the legitimacy of MMA, he actually made things worse for many fighters. By putting the UFC on television, it encourages more fights per year which requires more bodies, meaning cards are filled with unfortunate and nameless bastards who have to train for weeks to compete in a thankless three round match that's just going to be ignored barring some freak injury that goes viral on TikTok while they get only $10-12K after expenses for winning. And the kit deal eliminates the chance for not just the top athletes from having exclusive deals but niche fighters from having their own five to six figure endorsement deals or oddball sponsors. You know something is fishy when these UFC fighters end up making more for a single boxing match in which they have zero chance to win than they made in their entire competitive MMA careers.
