Movies: Mary Poppins Returns

The original used special effects judiciously and wisely (loved Van Dyke and the dancing penguins). After seeing a trailer in a theatre, this one uses CGI like it thinks it's a superhero movie. Charming, this ain't gonna be.

I took my niece to it, was cute but I was pretty disappointed in that they didn't play any of the old songs from the original Mary Poppinsi, it was like going to see your favorite rock band and they play everything from their new album that you haven't listened to yet.

I was really looking forward to singing to Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

Wait... This is a sequel?!

They didn't want to reboot and create the Mary Poppins Cinematic Universe?

Blunt is a great Mary Poppins; everything else about the movie has all the charm and originality of leftover pizza.
