So, if he plays in Saginaw or Brno, ELC slides this year. However, if he plays in the AHL, or obviously the NHL, the contract burns the first year. Anyone think it would be worth the first ELC year to have him in Charlotte, or will CHL or Brno be enough development to justify not burning the first ELC year?

No, not AHL. Only 10+ games in the actual Canes will burn a year off the ELC. The link in the post you quoted is to my own post with actual quotes from the CBA. It is to be noted that there is the slide possibility only for the 18, 19 year old guys; guys 20 and older will burn a year off the ELC in real time wherever they spend the year whether it be NHL, AHL or some other league.

Saarela, Kuokkanen wouldn't have been in Charlotte at the ending moments of the last season if it had burned a year off their ELC.

I just put it here to save everyone the trouble of klicking, there being a page-turn now and all:

[FIELDSET="CBA 9.1(d)"](i) In the event that an 18 year old or 19 year old Player signs an SPC with a Club but does not play at least ten (10) NHL Games in the first season under that SPC, the term of his SPC and his number of years in the Entry Level System shall be extended for a period of one (1) year, except that this automatic extension will not apply to a Player who is 19 according to Section 9.2 by virtue of turning 20 between September 16 and December 31 in the year in which he first signs an SPC. Unless a Player and Club expressly agree to the contrary, in the event a Player's SPC is extended an additional year in accordance with this subsection, all terms of the SPC, with the exception of Signing Bonuses, but including Paragraph 1 Salary, games played bonuses and Exhibit 5 bonuses, shall be extended; provided, however, that the Player's Paragraph 1 Salary shall be extended in all circumstances.

(ii) In the event that a Player signs his first SPC at age 18 and has had his SPC extended pursuant to Subsection (i), and such Player does not play at least ten (10) NHL Games in the second season under that SPC, then the term of his SPC and his number of years in the Entry Level System shall be extended for one (1) additional year.
[/FIELDSET]

The "first" and "second" season under that Entry-Level SPC obviously are the ones immediately after the signing of the SPC; the Slide should be considered as + and ++ seasons to the standard three.

So given that he is a first round selection, signed his ELC, and it will slide as long as he doesn't play 10 or more games in the NHL, is there any reason not to have him in the AHL this year?

Not anything stemmimg from the contractual side of things, no. He's a Canes player since signing the SPC and under that contract for the next 3-5 years, depending on his use and theirs to play where they want him.

He goes to Saginaw gets valuable 1st line TOI, PP, PK, learns the N,A, game, rigorous schedule and style of the OHL. Develops, ready for AHL by next season at least.

Google Translate:

After two-thirds, the # U20CZE and Switzerland are still 3: 1. The result is Martin Nečas's injury, perhaps not serious.

It sounds like he's more likely to play the season out in the Czech Republic, but the decision will likely be made after the Traverse City Tournament and Canes Training Camp.

Francis said in the interview with Chip Alexander last week that Necas was leaning toward playing in the Czech Republic this season and that Francis let's the player decide.

In case you guys missed it: Forslund said on the Aftermath that Francis had Necas at number 4 on our team's draft board (and other teams had him higher as well).
