Jones is having by far the worst season of his career, where his poor numbers are mostly due to playing behind a defensive core that is the best in the NHL at suppressing shots, and one of the worst in the NHL at suppressing true grade A, wide open net chances.

And his numbers are still much better than Talbot’s. Close this.

As an Oilers fan who has watched almost every game, Talbot is just too inconsistent the past season + to even warrant consideration. He stops the hard ones and has been letting in the easy ones too often whereas he was an absolute rock in 2016/17. I'd go Jones here but I think the way Talbot played in 16/17 is better than Jones has ever played (especially considering the team he was carrying) and if he can regain that form he would be a better option considering only 2 years separating them.
