Marner will likely be getting draisaitl's contract this summer.
I think the range is Draisatl to Kucherov. Kucherov had mostly UFA years in that contract but there would be some cap inflation applied to Draisatl's, so let's hope we just get it done at somewhere in that range without all the theater that went with Nylander's negotiation

Draisaitl is currently in his 5th NHL season and Marner is in his 3rd NHL season, so that's one reason why Marner has not outscored him yet. However I have feeling Marner gets more than 77 points which was Draisaitl total during the 2016-2017 season when he rode shotgun with McDavid.

Lol, this need for you to say ‘riding shotgun with McDavid ‘ is insane. Marner hasn’t outscored Draisaitl in any of his seasons, but this season he plays with a former Hart Candidate and now it can’t be said he ‘rides shotgun’ right?

So you try to explain how Draisaitl gets a 8 year contract with a $8.5 million AAV when his previous high was 51 points 1 year earlier, without using playing with McDavid and Peter Chiarelli being stupid enough to give it to him.

Draisaitl has 8 5V5 points in 255 minutes without McDavid. 1.88 P/60.

That would rank 63rd among centers. Just above Cody Eakin and just below Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.

Please stop using his credentials as a center to rank him above other wingers. His time as a winger next to McDavid is the only thing that even gets him in the conversation with wingers like Marner.

Oh and before somebody flips out about a small sample size, it’s 1.91 without McDavid since the start of the 2016-2017 season.

This might work as an argument if he didn't score at a 90+ point pace over the last 50 games last year with Kadri as his center.

Marner.

Take Draisaitl away from McDavid and he's only half the player that he currently is.
The same cannot be said for Marner and Taveres or Marner and Matthews.

Tavares plays with AHL players when he's not playing with McDavid.

P/60 is problematic enough that taking out a large sample is asking for trouble. McDavid is obviously a big part of Draisaitl's production, but he's not exactly playing with great players in offensive situations without him. That's still a decent enough P/60 for a top liner to the point I don't think he can be dismissed as a high end player. He's not as good as Marner, but he's still first line caliber

It sure is convenient how people simultaneously credit him with being a center and the point totals he puts up on McDavid's wing. When in reality they're mutally exclusive.

This with or without game can be twisted anyway you want. Marner's had 1.79 pts/60 playing 434 minutes with Bozak as his center last year. And for the vast majority of that time one of Rielly, Nylander or Gardiner was on the ice. When Draisailt is away from McDavid he has no one as good as any of those guys.

You try and explain how a <70 pt player will most likely get more than that amount when just the next year he goes on a 100pt pace without using that he plays with Tavares?

As an Oilers fan I honestly think Marner is slightly better than Drai at this point- however, anyone who faults Drai for not putting up as many points without Mcdavid at this point is just willfully ignorant. Please look at the wingers the Oilers have deployed the last 2 seasons. These are AHL wingers. Today, Draisaitl had to centre Reider who has a grand total of 0 goals all season, and sniper Ryan Spooner who has 3 goals. Everytime he passed the puck to them in the Ozone, they immediately lost it. Draisaitl is a flawed player but he's currently on pace for over 100 points, while spending half the time trying to carry scrubs.

Just as clueless as the leafs fans who think Drai is a product of McDavid. Like it's pretty obvious that you don't watch any western conference teams, let alone the Oilers

I think it's great Leafs have elite C's in Matthews and Tavares who can carry around the very average and small one dimentional winger in Marner and a money greedy swede in Nylander.
Great C depth, best in the NHL!

I can't believe some people actually like your less than clueless post! A skilled player like Nylander who
wants to get paid is greedy? Marner a one dimentional player? Watch some hockey bud you may learn something, everything you state is totally laughable! BTW Marner is bigger than Kucherov, Gaudreau, Brayden Point, Etc, etc, I could go on. Seriously why bother posting.

I think Marner has more ability for his position, but not that much, so I think the center is the more valuable player.

Tell that to the Yotes for taking the big center instead of the better, more talented player, and a bit smaller player in Marner? Who's regretting it now? Again thank you Yotes for taking Strome, us Leaf fans can never thank you enough!
