Jake Gardiner and Martin Marincin provide ample evidence that using statistics as something that can be relied upon, 100 percent, is shaky at best. Gardiner was absolutely ******* trash defensively. Garbage. A shambles. His numbers don’t tell the story in any reliable way.

He wasn't, you simply didn't like the way he played defensively, and those are two wildly different issues.

he was garbage, and a liability. Afraid to go to the wall, and just threw his stick into battles. Got bullied on the cycle. Constantly lost his man in front. Burped up the puck under pressure. He was not good defensively. He was sheltered, and put up points.

Robertson has points in 38 of his 41 games this season too. Very impressive.

By comparison, other notable OHL draftees from this past year.

Tomasino - scored in 41 of 54 games. 95 points in 54 games.
McMichael - scored in 39 of 44 games. 92 points in 44 games.
Kaliyev - scored in 41 of 51 games. 87 points in 51 games.
Thomas - scored in 35 of 44 games. 72 points in 44 games.

All these guys think they belong in the NHL. Petan I think will eventually make his place in the next year or two. The other guys who knows.
I understand they want out but Leafs is not a charity who just gives players away. I hope these players and their agents understand that. Also, they need to be good for other teams to at least show interests.

Abramov has 72 points. Not impressed? Well, the next highest scorer on his team only has 36 points!
Kalmikov has 48 points this year.

25 points in 22 games with Victoriaville. Abramov is still ridiculous this year but at least he has a half decent player to play with now.

Is Bracco still missing in action?
Yes. But tomorrow is going to be a big day. I think we'll finally get an idea of what this Bracco thing was all about. If he's dealt, all of this will make some sort of sense. If he's not, something really weird is going on behind the scenes. We'll get some sort of answer tomorrow.

So if he was playing in Russia this year he would have been on the U20 team right? He has good stats representing Russia in other tourneys so it’s just the leaving for the CHL thing that kept him off the team?

Angus Redmond traded to Edmonton, which likely means he will no longer be available to the Growlers. I wonder if San Diego will give us anything else to make up for their end of the bargain, since the AHL TDL is next Monday. Even if we have to give up one of our depth forwards, I would take a depth defenseman from them in return.

Why did he not get scored on often over a 4 year sample size? Is it just the greatest lucky streak of all time?

You're going to say he was sheltered, but you're going to have to back that up with some substantial evidence when the guy played 20+ minutes a night.

He made more mental mistakes in critical times than Bryan McCabe. What do you want? Two most important games for the team the last two years? Absolute dumpster fire. Glad he’s gone. He’s garbage in Carolina, as well

He wasn't good enough for this year's WJC. Playing in the CHL had nothing to do with it.

Abramov is undersized and can only be deployed in a scoring role; Russia just had better and older options for those roles. Denisenko, Khovanov (CHL), Marchenko, Podkolzin, Dorofeyev, Sokolov (CHL), Morozov, Voronkov.
I mean Amirov didn't make the team either.

Next year will be different. Abramov and Nikolayev will likely center the top 2 lines.

A healthy and full Marlies Playoff lineup (Leafs out) almost has too many forwards:

*Not actual lines*:

Engvall-Petan-Aberg
Agostino-Brooks-Bracco
Korshkov-Kossila-Read
Wilson-Gaudet-Veronneau
Lorito-Macmaster-Salomaki
Clune-Elynuik-Pooley

Even the D has a lot of quality:

Sandin-Liljegren
Rosen-Marincin
Kivihalme-Lindgren
Gravel-Duszak
Kapla-Hollowell

I wonder how many swaps are made ahead of the AHL deadline still, and if any of the NHL contracts still get moved for AHLers in return.

Bracco for instance could still go to a non-Playoff NHL team for a pick or prospect return.
