Not an awful option, I feel there's even less gas left in the tank for Streit but he does brings similar elements to Markov and would come for under 3M IMO.

Did Bergevin even watch the playoffs? Streit didn't even play for the Pens I think besides 1 game and he was horrible. :shakehead

I would be in favor of adding Streit at 1.5 million and Signing Markov. Streit is at worst a good depth dman at this point in his career.

I sincerely apologize to Whiskey7. MB is not just BargainBin but an idiot. Streit couldn't break into the roster of a team that was decimated.

Man this GM is a total moron. One step forward and three backward.

Interesting developments. Bet you it's a $1M offer. If it don't work, you bury the salary in the minors. Same as Hemsky, and it was the same with Byron before he proved himself.

Not so sure too many teams are offering a bunch of money for a 39 year old who will be 40 in December?

I loved Streit as a Hab, but that offer better has to be because we're getting Ryan Getzlaf or something that would otherwise prevent us from signing Andrei Markov.

If Markov doesn't want to sign for a year, it is a good plan B.

Bergevin needs to be carefull now with new contracts kicking in for the 2018-19 season (Price, Danault...)

We already have 58M committed to only 15 players. So if the cap stays at 75M next year, we only have 17M to re-sign 8 players.

Hehh... At this point in his career, Streit is a Plan Z.

How would you handle Markov if he is not willing to move from the 2 year demand? No way the Habs can give Markov a 2 year deal. Risks involved are huge.

I'm starting to hate that Markov does not have an agent. Agents will coach you in the best decision and let Markov know that if you only want to play for the Habs, you better accept the one year deal and lets got for the Max amount we can. Otherwise, the Habs can't sit back and wait.. this is the problem.

Streit couldn't even crack the Pens line up despite them being desperate for a puck mover. The guy is beyond done.

It's the same thing, Markov signs for a year or he goes. That's it.

Streit is almost Markov, more or less the same age, both are PP specialist.

Markov always has issues when he plays too much later in the year (fatigue?) and he would never accept to be a 6th d on this team.

The risk are not huge at all. It's 2 years. Sign him.

Yes they are. If Markov retires after this season, we lose that cap space for next season. A lot can happen in one season. Habs are 100% correct with offering Markov a one year deal. If Markov wants to be a Habs for life, sign 1 year at a time. If he feels he got a lot left in the tank, sign another contract next year. Why insist on 2 years? Its very bad strategy and he will regret this decision down the road.

Whatever the Leafs did with Robidas, you do it with Markov.

I actually think for once Bergevin is doing the right thing here, it's 1 year at a time for Markov.

See, I'd really prefer a 1yr deal too.
What I don't know is if he has other deals lined up that would make a 1yr deal to Markov impossible.

That's a bit dishonest, labeling Markov as a PP specialist, if that were the case, Markov wouldn't have spent so much time by Weber's side.
