It's still surprising how guys can make a go of it out in Europe. Guys like Mike Craig and Karel Pilar were still playing in 2013! The money can't be that bad if they can make a career of it for so long.

They make a solid salary plus all of their living costs are paid for by the team. It's quite a good lifestyle, plus hockey is big in Europe so they get a bit of fame out of it.

I know a couple guys that played pro Football over there, one in Germany the other Austria. All expenses are paid, treated like Kings and they pretty much bank their earnings.

I imagine Hockey players would get paid considerably more on top of that.

His dog is so fat and cute... He dropped her off at the dog boarding place I used to work at. Nice guy

Good luck Mark!

He'll be a star there. NLA is a moderately easier league than the AHL, and Mark was really close to being an NHL regular.

Being even on +/- on a team as bad as the Leafs through 20GP is actually pretty good. He had 1st liner possession statistics, but low 3rd line production statistics. But his goal scoring rate was actually pretty good. His lines were islands of misfit toys - Colin Greening/PAP, Matthias/Boyes. And they were very decent checking lines.

Not good enough for top 6, game not really suited to the bottom 6. But he'll be one of the better players in Europe so good for him, he'll do well for himself over there.

He is NHL caliber, but just way too small to be a 3rd liner (5'8..). Sucks, but thats the truth. If he was 6'1+, im sure he'd find a job in the NHL on a team playing third line. Everyone wants big guys.

Another big AHL scorer-fringe NHL player gone. Players like him are a dime a dozen. Good luck in Switzerland.

If you lack NHL size you had better have NHL skill to be able to play in the top 6 offensive role to compensate.

A bottom 6 role is better suited for a player with size used in a checking/PK/banging and crashing energy role.

Big ice, less contact and in a scoring role is perfect fit for Arcobello in Europe.
