Damn. Looking through this thread and its back when Pat Leonard was still on the beat.

Those were the days.

Thank goodness it's changed...
The current beat aren’t exactly world beaters.

We’ve gone from prime Larry, Katie Strang, and Gross to sourceless Larry, Vince, Carp, and Stephenson in a matter of a decade and it shows. Hard.

Man this guy was terrible. One of those players a few posters loved though and thought would be an NHL player. Boo took over that spot afterwards.

Just my opinion, but I think Hrivik is the biggest victim of Gernander’s HFD.

I think he had the attitude, tools, smarts and everything when he came up, but the understanding of how to play the game successfully was just waaaay off. For example, there is nothing wrong with playing dump n chase, but you must do it when you are in a position to play that style successfully. If half the line is changing you will only surrender the puck 998/1000 times. HFD under Gernander played with their heads under their arm in this regard and Hrivik was just like that. Like a rookie Fast stuck since he could pin these things down, while a Hrivik was the opposite. Just think that it was a waste.
