"And there’s also plenty of reasons not to give up on Rossi yet. It could be temping, of course, to dangle Rossi as a trade chip in a bigger deal, even ahead of next week’s NHL Draft in Nashville. The Coyotes, led by Rossi’s former junior coach Andre Tourigny, have inquired about Rossi in the past, and they boast two of the first 12 selections in the first round. By our sense is that the Wild dealing Rossi next week is highly unlikely

“Wild fans need to understand this is a process,” Tourigny told The Athletic’s Michael Russo this season. “This is a hard league. Look at a lot of the recent first-rounders and how long it takes them to adjust. I’m not nervous at all about Marco Rossi. Not at all. But I always say Marco is not a point-producer. He’s a Ryan O’Reilly. Did you ever see Ryan O’Reilly be a top-10 scorer in the league?”."

ISTG, if we use 6 or 12 on Marco Rossi, I will flip a table and quit this franchise cold turkey.

A 5'9" fireplug who doesn't produce points? No thanks. I'd rather my character grinders come in larger sizes and meaner dispositions.

I’d do 12 for Rossi but seems we may be able to get him cheaper.

For those who don’t like that price, remember this is the Chychrun pick. This forum would have been over the moon in March had we traded Chychrun for Rossi and two 2nds.

It would be more like 12 and 38 for Rossi and 21. At worst we add 72.

He put up eye popping junior numbers and was a point per game player in the AHL last year. He was a top ten pick for a reason. And it’s not because he’s the next Brad Richardson. Tourigny said Ryan O’Reilly. He didn’t say Alex Kerfoot.

Should we do all three Chychrun picks for Rossi and 21?

Friendly reminder that Rossi is all of 21 years old. That’s younger than Maccelli for reference.

No. Way too much imo.

If the Wild want to move on from him, absolutely. He would fit great in between Hayton and McBain as a 2C with Crouse and Guenther. If it involves our number 12, hard no. A swap of 12 to 21 and a 24 second and third, stings but I could live with it.
I would be OK with a Jeannot style 5 picks trade but not 12ov. Lord knows we have the picks.
or
Faber, Rossi, 21 OV
Soderstrom, 12OV, 24 2nd and 3rd(or some variation of future picks)
Faber is a small upgrade over Soda IMO. Change of scenery for Rossi and Soda.

I don’t think Minnesota would trade Faber alone for Soderstrom and 12th overall

Soda and Rossi swap.
12OV, and 2 seconds(Chych) for Faber
Really? Damn.
We would finally have a top young RD and a middle 6 C. Maybe Bill can work some magic.

I think a much more likely target than Faber is Addison. He’s RFA and put up good numbers. But he also got benched down the stretch and it seems like there might be a discrepancy in value there. The team obviously isn’t as high in him, given the scratches. But the player put up the points and will want to get paid.

The Wild don’t really need this style of player, a PP specialist D. But we just lost Ghost and Chych and I’m not sure Soda is there yet (or if he will be).

Does Rossi+Addison get 12th overall?

Im not sure we trade the 12 OV for 2 under 6 foot players TBH. I would like to see what RFA players are out there though. I see guys like Klim Kostin at a cap strapped EDM as options with all the draft capital we have to make some upgrades.

I'd rather take my chances w/Barlow/Wood/Moore rather than Rossi. After watching the playoffs, I think it would be a mountain to climb with too many smaller players, I think size matters in the playoffs.

Someone posted something about the average size of the last 6 cup winners and it was something like 6'3'' on average. Well, that begs the question on why BA is trying to get bigger.

I like Rossi's potential and the connection with Tourigny, but Moore at 12 would be awfully tough to pass up. If we really like Rossi, I could see us deciding on draft day at pick 11 which way to go.

I was just doing some digging on team sizes on average. The information I'm finding says that the last 6 cup winners were actually between 6'1" and 6'2" average height. To be honest, the league average overall is a bit shorter than I expected.

This doesn't break down average height by line, and that matters. This is just team average overall:

VGK 6' 2" 203lbs
COL 6' 1" 199lbs
TBL 6' 1" 203lbs
STL 6' 2" 203lbs
WAS 6' 1" 203lbs

AVERAGE: 6’1.5” approx. / 202.2lbs
