Lars Eller drops his gloves but Brad Marchand refuses to fight

After the first game of the season Marchand jumped Eller and cut him up pretty bad. Eller tries to respond with a fair challenge to Marchand tonight and he just turtles. Afterwards Eller says “Everyone saw what he is. ... There’s not a lot of integrity in his game.”

Did Marchand violate the code of the game here or are we in a new era where all that hockey code stuff is dead?

I mean the Bruins were down a goal so I wouldn't want Marchand fighting there anyway.

Maybe wait till the end of the game to challenge him?

The code isn't so much code as it is guidelines anyway.

    Marchand is amazing

This is too funny. This approach harms no one, gives his team a free powerplay, and enrages so many people

Marchand is a gutless germ. But boy does he play his role well.
Would take him on the Sharks any day.

Marchand is a hell of a player. But he's also a gutless rat.

Did he violate the "code". Maybe. But Marchand is proving nothing new here. I just hope Boston fans understand he is the equivalent of every rat they have dealt with over the last decade. Just a better player too

Its never been a secret that Marchand is a coward and picks his moments to be tough when dudes are at the end of a shift or not looking. Its also never been a secret that other cowards think he is great because they see him succeeding the the NHL and hope that one day their cowardice wont get in the way of their future.

Oshie too. “I was a little let down that Marchand didn’t drop his gloves,” Oshie said. “Since the other way, Lars got jumped, but I don’t know the guy. I don’t know. You can kind of take away from that and speculate however you’d like.”

As much as I'd love to see his little rat face punched in, it didn't make sense for him to go at that point.

Why fight when down a goal when you're one of the teams best player? Get yourself a power play.

Clearly. That's why he challenged Marchand. Too bad he didn't have the stones to respond.

That said, I'd take Marchand on my team over Eller in a heartbeat. And Eller is no bum.

Oh really you’d take a top scorer in the league over Eller? Lol

Marchand is just the worst. Happy to take cheap shots, way too much of a coward to drop em when challenged. Gross.
