I think we need a thread to fully appreciate this cap wizardry. No loopholes like "Yeah, our top line has a crazy low cap hit but 2 of them are off their ELC's next year" or, "Our top line has a low cap hit but our star player hits UFA after next season."

Just as simple as 3 elite players on long-term bargain deals.

Bergeron at $6.875 million through 2021/22
Pastrnak at $6.667 million through 2022/23
Marchand at $6.125 million through 2024/25

Yeah, Bergeron is 32, but it's Bergeron.

Malkin $9.5 2021-2022
Crosby $8.7 2023-2024
Kessel $6.8 2021-2022

$25 million
Just for comparison sake, I know they don't all play on the same line but they are the best players

Almost 6 million in space is another top 6 winger/#2 D.

No doubt Crosby/Malkin/Kessel are great, but our trio + space for another top 6 winger/top pair D is fine with me!!

I know you'd think he's older been around so long
I think he looks older in his draft picture than he does now

I wish Pastrnak would be less of a wild card.

I wish he could see the back play more entering the zone, he seems to force the enter.

The only back play he always sees is in O the zone, he LOVES to feed Z.

It's a shame that Bergeron and Marchand have missed/will miss so many games this season. All 3 probably would have cruised to 30-goal seasons. Still possible depending on when Bergeron is back. Pasta is on pace for 30 right now.

It’s absolutely crazy to me that Bergeron and Toews both signed there monster deals 1 year apart

And we locked up Bergeron at 6.8 mill per and Chicago had to give Toews 10.5 mill per

Especially since I think Bergeron is a more talented player

Career Averages

Bergeron 25G 37A 62P
Toews 30G 39A 69P

30 Goal Seasons
Bergeron- 3
Toews- 2

Season above 60 Points
Bergeron- 5 (2 70 pt years)
Toews- 5 (1 70 pt year)

Given the way Toews has played the past few years, Bergeron is absolutely the better player. Just an awful contract from Chicago going forward to go along with Seabrook's.
