nice title but unimpressed. not a lot of experience with hockey players, and not a p.h.d from a top sports science or med college. maybe he would have been a good raptors hire, but bb is completely different biomechanics from hockey.

i hope he proves me wrong.

you make it sound like he got his degree from the University of Phoenix.

he's also worked with Division 1 schools across all sports. just because he personally worked with basketball players, doesn't mean he doesn't know how to work with hockey players or he wouldn't have been hired.

Somebody has to give the flu shots, hope he knows how to prevent the mumps.

I'm sure a failed hockey player turned gym rat would have been a better option.

Join Alyonka Larionov as the Brooklyn Nets Strength & Conditioning coach, Jeremy Bettle, puts her through the same workout Deron Williams has to endure in the offseason. Brooklyn Nets Forward, Toko Shengalia, makes a special guest appearance.

Join BCTV and Deron Williams for Part 2 of a Brooklyn Nets workout. Watch as Strength & Conditioning coach for the Brooklyn Nets, Jeremy Bettle, raises the bar and pushes Alyonka Larionov to the limit.

Nets Magazine takes a look at a typical offseason workout for a Brooklyn Net, done by YES Network's own Sarah Kustok.

:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

You know what's funny about this gif is that Dion is the only one riding like he's in spin class pretty much everyone else is taking it pretty easy, or maybe has the tension set higher.

I think his lack of conditioning is not just over stated, it's complete BS.

Did anybody take biology in school? Because it seems like a lot of people have no clue as to what happens to a male's body after they survive testicular cancer like Phil Kessel has. Not only that they are ignorant and flip about it despite the fact he can skate like the wind and tests high in pre-camp evaluations.

Did Phil have both testicles removed? I ask because I had testicular cancer and had one removed. I've suffered no reduction in testosterone production at all. My specialists told me that if you have at least one testicle, it will go into overdrive to ensure you produce enough testosterone. I can still have children, train 4 days a week, and grow a beard.

I'm pretty sure his cancer history has little to do with his physical conditioning, unless he had both his testicles removed.

Tension is higher. You could see the wheel spinning faster behind Kessel despite the fact that he doesn't look like he's trying. I, personally, fail to see what benefit Phaneuf is getting from peddling as fast as he can with a low tension, so maybe someone can explain that to me. Unless he's training for a 90 minute soccer game, and is trying to keep his heart rate up, then I don't understand what benefit this has in a short-burst, high-intensity sport like hockey.

Phaneuf is also on a different type of bike than the others, maybe a different regimen.

Pretty dumb to give any type of meaning to what's seen in that video.

(Not so) subtle jab but warranted. About as much as discerning anything concrete from videos with Kessel's head hung on the bench

Exactly, lots of those examples. About as dumb as saying Phanuefs a bad leader because he wore a red bull hat. True story.

It aids in recovery, if that is being done post or pre game.

I noticed that there was 1 different bike amongst the dozen or so workout bikes that were there. Given that MLSE should have enough money not to have to purchase equipment in dribs and drabs it would follow that all equipment should have the same replacement schedule. It is interesting that in this snippet the majority of players are on exactly the same model of bike and there is one player on a treadmill and one player on a separate model of bike.

I don't think it's dumb or too much of a stretch to speculate that Phaneuf and the running player MAY have a different training regimen or requirement due to some factor or factors. It would be more of a stretch to say what those factor(s) may be.

Just the one, not both.

I hope you're not suggesting that conclusions about fitness levels cannot be determined by a 2 second gif.

Clearly The evidence is airtight and Kessel is not really geared towards athletics. :sarcasm:
