I don't get it. Chiarelli was the general manager of a Stanley Cup winning team that went back to the Finals two years later. How did he go so south as a general manager?

You know I can have ass understand a guy making it his team and moving guys like Hall, eberle or RNH.

But when those trades backfired he just started trying to force too many things. No issue signing Chiasson, Reider, Brodziak, Gravel etc.. this year. Seemed like he finally realized he needed to find cheap depth. But then he forces the Strome for Spooner trade, which resulted in taking a successful winger in Khaira and forced him at center. Didn't work at all. Strome by no means was lighting it up for us, but he was a decent enough 3c.

Then our defense was struggling so he decides to go after Manning and Petrovic. Again by no means did we give up a lot for either guy, but we were weak up front and he trades the one depth forward in Caggiula that tries every night. A guy that does something ever night despite his flaws. All that happened now is we were down two forwards on an already weak forward group.

Would've be fine bringing in all the guys that he did this year. It's not a horrid idea to try bring in cheap players to see if they are a better fit with your club, but somehow the guy found a way to make our team weaker. Even if Manning and Spooner were good players for us. We still wouldn't have had a 3c and he dealt away a very versatile winger in Caggiula that we so desperately need

I'm pretty certain Oilers fans don't share this opinion with you.
Meh, they all have their days of showing something, but majority of the time none of them really are doing anything.

They are all 6/7 d-men with none of them stepping up and taking a spot on this club.

Hasnt put up the points. But hes Ive been super impressed with almost every aspect of his game. He uses his body, has great speed, decent to good hands. And crazy to think we got him for Manning.. lol

Caggulia was traded in December and he’s still tied for 6th in goals scored on the Oilers.
