Mircea Lucescu just retired. Maybe not such a household name but the only coach with more trophies than him is Alex Ferguson.

Or not, Lucescu is now denying the reports about him retiring. Stating that without football he has nothing to live for.

Then and there
Nuno Espito Santo sacked by Al-Ittihad (after quiding them to league title last season in Saudi-Arabia, but being 6th atthis moment) after dressing room spat with Benzema who he accused of being lazy, not putting any pressing effort and being a poor leader and bad example for other players.

Benzema then went to complain to board room, who sacked Nuno.

Fischer and Union have finally parted ways. U19 coach Marco Grote will step in with Marie-Louise Eta staying his co-trainer (assistant manager) like she had been with the U19s. Eta will thus be the first female co-trainer in BuLi history.

So after his agent was talking s*** about Eta's promotion on twitter, Schade fired him and is now looking for a new agency.

Will be interesting to see, his last few jobs haven’t ended too well, at Osijek he spent alot of money for Croatian league standards and made no progress in Europe and domestically. At Trabzonspor the results on the field were ok but the players turned against him. However he did a fantastic job at Dinamo and in the Austrian league before that. With Dalic hinting he will leave Croatia post Euro 2024, Bjelica was considered the major candidate but that might be off the table now if he succeeds at Union

Nantes' crazy owner Kita has struck again. Firing his 18th coach since he came (2007).
In fact Nantes has had as many coaches (19) under him as in its entire history (1943-2007).

Grosso is fired from Lyon. Gattuso is next from Marseille.
They've both been absolutely horrible.

Marseille fans can't be happy lol. They went from Sampaoli and Tudor's quite mad, but entertaining and - at least most of the time - quality football with decent results... to Gattuso.

He brought some interesting tweaks in that first match. Keeping the same general shape but using two LWBs, with Roussillon in the back 3 so that we shifted to a back 4 in possession.

It freed Gosens up to be more aggressive (playing almost like a forward) and he scored our goal, with Roussillon coming close to teeing up a second from the LB spot.

...but Liete didn't have as much freedom to push forward past Khedira and support the attack, like he & Doekhi did when things were going well for us under Fischer.

And Lyon fans too.... Both Olympique have been badly managed in terms of foaching for a long time. As for roster building, Lyon is desastrous and OM not good.

This is interesting… I’m based obviously but I’d think Dean Smith would be a better hire based on the sample size each has

Qatar sack Carlos Queiroz after only a year in charge, the decision was made only a month before the start of the Asian Cup (which Qatar are hosting). New manager is 'Tintin' Marquez, long time youth coach in the Espanyol academy but has been managing in the Qatar league since 2018

As what’s been rumored for a few weeks now but they probably waited until the MLS season officially ended, Sandro Schwarz will be named new manager of the NY Red Bulls
