Why?
Because after semi retiring for a few years, he rejected any proposal when asked to come in the middle of the year.
Except people have forgotten about him and he took a huge hit when he was rejected by Lyon in favor of Garcia last summer.
And to be honest, it has cost Lyon HUGE time since then.
So Blanc is thinking that if he manages Barca the way he wants for a year and is successful doing so, he'll
1/ be able to stay in a top 5 club
2/ won't stay because the new board wants their guy but big clubs will have noticed.

Let's keep in mind that with Blanc, PSG never lost a domestic competition (a feat never done before or after, by PSG or any other club). They lost twice on away goals to Barca and Chelsea in the CL. They only real CL defeat was that loss to City right after the whole Aurier/Ibra fiasco and clearly the team didn't respond mentally after that.
Even with Neymar and Mbappe, no PSG team has come close to what Blanc did with his PSG teams.
When he managed Bordeaux, he had a bunch of nobodys (Chamakh was his best striker) and Gourcuff and made them play amazing football, steamrolling everyone in L1 to the title (including Lyon which was a powerhouse then) and topping its CL group with Juventus and Bayern.

I have no idea why Blanc is so underrated in football circles. It's not as if he wasn't a legend as player also.
My only question mark with him is that all he did was with JL Gasset as assistant coach and Gasset is now his own manager since they split (on good terms BTW). Blanc has never worked without him.

And people here thought this season that he'd be better than Solskjaer at United.

He did a better job than Solksjaer in the 2014/15 Championship, when the resources available to each man were slightly more comparable than the gulf in turnover between Bournemouth and The Fallen Empire.

The year before when Cardiff were relegated, their results were worse under Solksjaer than under Malky Mackay.

He did a good job getting through the leagues early in his tenure when they were legit broke, but the media (both English and here NBC) tend to overlook how much they spent when the Russian owner took over (in fact they barely mention him) and they did break EFL FFP rules. Their signings the last few seasons have mostly been a total bust, not sure if Howe had full control over those, it seems like he did

Regardless, I see him managing West Ham, Palace by Christmas

In his first 28 games in charge, Arteta has victories over the Champions of Europe/PL Champions, reigning PL/FA Cup winners, Europa League winners, Smeagol and Coronavirus. Did this with a makeshift defense of David Luiz, Mustafi and Holding + little midfielder depth.

It's indisputable that the Russian's money helped Bournemouth considerably, however it bears mention that in the promotion season of 2014-15 they only paid transfer fees for two players, and their net spend was small because one of those - Callum Wilson - was signed using the fee obtained for selling Lewis Grabban to Norwich.

In their promotion season their wage bill was 237% of the club's turnover (source: the Swiss Ramble) yet there will still four clubs whose gross wage bills were higher. And not all of those ended up paying the promotion bonuses that Howe and his players landed. However, you cut it, then, even with the artificial stimulus, by winning the Championship Howe's performance exceeded what would reasonably have been expected.

With Rams stadium costing Kroenke a lot of money, let's see if he is willing to back Arteta this offseason.

What an ass Conte is! I don't what the hell is expecting? Management made huge steps to improve the team this year. Zhang pumped a lot of money.

If this is about money that’s twice in the past 3 years managers have spent 80m on Lukaku and then cried poor.

Conte does seem like an ass but tbh it's not surprising. He probably is pushing for them to get reinforcements. He knows he cant win with this group. Sure they made progress this year but they need to continue to open up the wallet.

This man has no shame. He also said he would've considered the Arsenal job.

What is there to be ashamed about. Sadly for him and for Barca that ship has likely sailed. Unless Setein falters again( likely) and the usually suspects of Xavi/Koeman reject the call again.

Pochettino has that PSG link too.
There are rumors Leonardo isn't a Tuchel fan. If PSG crashes soon (regardless of context, injuries and all), Leonardo could make a play for either Poch or Conte. Maybe even Allegri.

Sigh.
