Just due to the fact that they've done it for so long - and have shown an ability to do it in the playoffs when stakes are as high as they come - both Malkin and Crosby above Mack (and anyone else not named McDavid).

In terms of pure ability/talent it's getting a lot closer though. Mack is really special. By year end he may be #2 in the world (and close to #1).

    Ha just saw that.

    Me AINEC :sarcasm:

For real, both are amazing players and I can’t blame anyone for picking either. Right now I would still take Malkin, but it could change next season, or even later this year.

Mackinnon has complete swayed me, thought he was a disgustingly overrated stagnated first overall pick two years ago, but wow this kid is the real deal.

Huge Malkin fan, but I’ve watched Mackinnon play a ton this year and this kid is an absolute monster.

It is close but it's still Malkin.

    McDavid
    Crosby/Malkin
    MacKinnon/Matthews
    Bergeron/Marchand
    Kane/Kucherov
    Rantanen

Those are your top 10 until further notice

Malkin by a tiny smidgen. But, you really wouldn't be wrong to say McKinnon by now either.

Even McKinnon fans admit he's weak in the defensive zone, and cherry picks like Bure. Malkin is a 200' center that still post almost identical points.

He’s alright defensively, he’ll never be a selke candidate. But it just kinda depends on how much effort he’s putting in on the defensive side of the game. He’ll usually be around average defensively, but he’s been pretty floaty to start the year.

Malkin is not good defensively. Makes a lot of bad turnovers and takes pointless penalties that cost his team.

I wouldn't say he's weak, he's average. Not bad but not great. He has cherry picked a few times this season but not nearly enough to be labelled as someone who's a cherry picker.

Also this season he hasn't quite been himself yet, still great but not what we saw last season. He kinda comes in waves.

Mean Gene is probably the best nickname I've ever heard for Malkin lol. That alone gets my vote.
