Landeskog - Hishon - Olver
"blank" - Malone - Walker
"blank" - "blank" - "blank"
"blank" - "blank" - "blank"

Graduates: Duchene, RoR, Gali, Porter, Yip

Elliott - Seimens
Barrie - Gaunce
Chouinard - Rutkowski
E: Holos

Graduates: Cumiskey

Calvin Pickard
Alttokaillo

Note: Only put down prospects who I believe will have a shot at the NHL. I didn't include Stoa since he looks like a all star AHLer at this point.

Weakness: Offensive depth. Addressed by drafting Landeskog and the fact that the Avs roster has their top 3 centers as 25 and under it isn't the biggest NHL concern right now.

Strength: Defensive depth. I wouldn't say anyone there is a no. 1 type dman (tho they do have that potential I am sure). A lot of top pairing - top 4, and some bottom pairing D on there. Solid depth.

Question: Goaltending. Its goaltending. You never know what to expect.

To me, Stuart Percy is not the opposite of a "Burke-type" player. But I suppose it's all in the eye of the beholder. Such a player would have to be undersized. highly skilled, and defensively challenged, not average sized and well-rounded.

Kind of like a recent Burke draftee, Nazem Kadri?

Disclaimer: Not to say I don't think Kadri is improving defensively, but this is just to show the idiocy in the belief that Burke goes after "Burke-type" gritty players over highly skilled prospects

All I said is that if the top prospects like Kadri and Colborne bust hard, the team has no other high-end skilled players. You just listed off a group of players that certainly have skill, but are prototypical Burke players.

1) He already showed you that that first sentence is incorrect, so I won't bother to tell you that guys like McKegg (who you conveniently omitted from your list), D'Amigo, Olden, Frattin (etc.) are highly skilled players. In addition, you could make that type of assertion for any team:

For example: "All I'm saying is that if the top prospects like Ryan Spooner and Jordan Caron bust hard, the team has no other high-end skilled players."

Of course, you would argue that I'm neglecting to mention guys like Jared Knight. Well we're saying the same thing: "Hey don't just ignore the other quality, skilled guys we have!"

2) The guys listed off in his post (e.g. Olden, D'Amigo) are highly offensive, and in some cases undersized prospects. By your own admission (seen in the post above) these are not prototypical Burke players. This is where your argument fails.

Schwartz(C/LW) - Grachev - Tarasenko
Della Rovere - McRae - Rattie
Veilleux - Lehtera - Jaskin
Shattock(RW) - Tesink - Wannstrom
Beach, Sonne, Nigro, Andronov, Reaves (basically graduated)

Cole - Junland
Ponich - Edmundson
Cundari - Beukeboom
Fairchild, Hakanpaa

Allen
Bishop
Binnington

I tried to keep natural positions, which is why Shattock ends up on the fourth line, when he's probably higher than Veilleux on the depth chart. And other than Hakanpaa, those defensemen are all lefties (which is good considering the Blues will, hopefully, have Pietrangelo, Shattenkirk, and Polak on the right for years to come).

Not a bad list considering they have graduated EJ, Pietrangelo, Oshie, Perron, Berglund recently and have other young players Stewart, Shattenkirk, Backes and Polak. Borderline ridiculous.

Because of throwing Bogosian, Kane, and Burmi right into the NHL, this has to rank dead last in the league.

Looking at our prospects like that, i'm truly excited. If a good number of them pan out as they should then the Red Wings will be sporting a really big, skilled, fast team that should actually be fun to watch.

Isn't Teemu Laakso eligible for this? I'm pretty sure he's only played like 5-10 NHL games so I would put him in the third D line. The strength of that team is obviously defense, our top two D lines are VERY strong and Lindback is a beast. Offensively, I don't like Latta on the wing, I prefer him at centre but I guess he could work on the wing to. I would probably inclue Patrick Cehlin as the kid is quick and shows a lot of promise. But that's a pretty good team.

Here would be my team:

Bourque-Geoffrion-Halischuk
Beck-Latta-Watson

Blum-Josi

I'd replace Mitera with Welinski, i'd put Mitera as a decent ECHL prospect at this point. Macenauer is obviously more developed but i think Cramorossa is a better prospect. Also i'm higher on Tarrki then Bob. But i guess he's old to be considered a prospect.

i'd go with:

:nucks

Shirokov-Hodgson-Jensen
Anthony-Schroeder-Rodin
Sweatt-Labate-Grenier
Archibald-Friesen-Blomstrand
*Westerholm/Rai

Sauve-Tanev
Polasek-Connauton
Erixon-McNally
*Tommernes/Corrado

Lack
Honzik
(Cannata)?

though whether or not Shirokov still counts is debatable.

I would absolutely love to see a crazy round-robin type tournament with these 'prospect teams'. Would never happen, but it'd be highly entertaining for us fans.

do you even know who Charlie Coyle is? He was ranked the 13th OVERALL best prospect by The Hockey News and you put him third line behind players most people have never heard of?

Probably some FA/Brust

My lord the Sens have done well in prospect-hogging the past two years.

And so have the Leafs :)

A few years from now: Sundin v Alfy will become Kadri v Ziba

The Panthers system is so stacked, I kinda wish they were a little more conservative this UFA period and committed to the rebuild for at least one more year. Considering how stacked the 2012 draft is, and how elite the talent is in the top-5, I could only imagine how bright their future would be with Huberdeau, Markstrom, Gudbranson and a guy like Yakupov all waiting in the wings. I highly doubt that happens now though with all the UFAs they added.

Bouma - Wahl - Arnold/Ferland

Brodie - Negrin

This is the correct Flames one IMO, as Mitch Wahl has unfortunately had struggles taking the next step, whereas Reinhart has looked great recently.

Not a bad team at all, including a couple good captains in Ramage (US WJC) and Bouma.
