Heiskanen is way better AINEC.

Makar and Hughes get overhyped because of their fanbases.
Dahlin gets overhyped because of his draft hype.

Miro is so underhyped, it's not even funny. The other 3 are incompetent defensively. Watching Hughes defend is hilarious.

Heiskanen is the best of the four now but I think it's impossible to say how it looks in a couple of years. All four are sooo young.
So I'll just vote for Makar because he's on my favorite team.

Hughes. Dahlin is great but Buff is terrible. Makar is amazing but on much more a stacked team imo.

Lets just forget about the only one left with 21p in 16g. Not to talk about he is the leading scorer on his team by a mile...

this poll is made every single week when one of the players listed has a good game.

it's a little exhausting tbh

I think any one of Heiskanen/Dahlin/Makar could end up being the best of this group. No offense to Hughes who is also a tremendous young player, those are just my top 3 and my personal opinion. Hughes could prove me wrong of course but I'm not fully sold on him yet.

But any of those 3 imo could be the best. Right now, its Heiskanen. Going forward, I'm sure it'll swap back and forth quite a bit. Hope we can see Dahlin and the Sabres in the playoffs soon

well to be fair, for the first time weve seen what 3 of the 4 can do through 2-3 rounds in the playoffs. Heiskanen and Hughes definitely have proven a lot.

All of these players are excellent and if anyone thinks there is currently a clear answer they are kidding themselves. We may never know the answer to this question tbh.

I think out of all of the players Miro has the highest floor but the lowest ceiling. Right now he is probably the most complete player but the dynamic attributes of the other 3 would have me give them the edge on Miro overall for their career. He is the safest pick but has the least upside.

Next I would probably take out Hughes. He is so brilliant, has such great skating and vision he will be massively consistent. If he is the best it will be from non stop steady play over many years. I think transitionally he may be the best, but defensively he will likely be the worst.

So with that I would pick either Makar or Dahlin as these 2 players I feel have the highest overall ceiling due to their overall gifts and talent. Dahlin will have to overcome being on a bad team for many years but could end up being the most complete player of all of them. Makar is just special and if he reaches his full potential I could see him surpassing EK. Out of all of the dmen on this list Makar likely is set up to have the best long term partner in Byram as well which is an area the others lack.

This question is a coin flip anyways. If you REALLY care about the answer instead of just appreciating all of these star players you are doing it wrong imo

I'm just not sold on his play yet. Seems like a skilled PP specialist/offensive dman so far and I think he gets overhyped defensively. Lot of Canucks fans out there so that's understandable. I don't ever see him being better than any of these 3 guys at their all around game either at both sides of the rink.

He's probably the best setup guy (or 2nd best to Dahlin) out of the 3 so he will always rack up points, but I'm just not sure how I really feel about him yet other than that he impresses me less than when I watch the other 3.

Again, just my personal opinion that could very well change or be wrong.

Maybe he end up better than 1 or 2 of them, but I'm confident it won't be all 3.

Hughes has been about solid defensively. Many Canucks fans have been actually more impressed with how his defensive play looks compared to how hes doing offensively. You are selling him kind of short here. He was fantastic in game 6 against Vegas if we look at his recent games. He is pretty much around Makar level.

As a Finn I hope it's Miro but when it's all said and done I think it'll be Dahlin. Kid's an unreal talent.

Heiskanen is currently the best, no question.

Makar actually was outstanding in the Dallas series, I think just as effective as Heiskanen, but in a more scattershot way. He has taken huge steps defensively. He has a long way to go to get there but he's very obviously in the process of adding elements that he didn't have some months ago. He's also the best pure offensive force of the four, he'll likely improve even that. He has room to grow on the PP where he is very raw.

Dahlin is the youngest and rawest of the four in both offense and defense. Even if he improves the most he won't necessarily catch up all of the way. I could see him passing everyone, his raw tools are good enough, but that's not a safe bet, he has too far to go.

Hughes I expect to get a lot better but his upside feels more intangible, he'll cut down on his turnovers eventually and make better reads but he'll always have limits on what he can do defensively with his weight/reach. It's hard to see him scoring a lot more too because he's not going to finish plays himself and the PP scoring was already at the top.

So I went with Makar.

I think they are all great in their own way. Each have their own strengths and weaknesses. Although there aren’t many weaknesses. Four phenomenal d men.
