Wondering If Vancouver decided to go with demko long term and let markstrom walk ,what a deal for marc-andre fluery from Vegas would look like If vegas retained %50 of his deal? Seems like he would be perfect to split the crease with demko for a couple of years and coming in to a young up and coming team as a big time leader with loads of playoff experience.

Would a mid round pick get it done? A B-prospect?

I mean if Markstrom walks, MAF comes with 50% retention, costs almost nothing in terms of trade value, and is willing to come to Vancouver, then sure MAF helping Demko transition to a number 1 over the next 2 years would be fine.

But why would Vegas do that? Vancouver certainly isn't going to spend assets to acquire him (no knock on Fleury it just wouldn't make sense for us).

We have cap issues. Any cap that comes in must come out, if not more coming out.
I like MAF, a B prospect could be had, however, a cap dump would be going back. Retaining 50% doesn't really make him that much more valuable anyway. Not unless we dump more cap.

Pick your poison of Eriksson, Sutter, Roussel, Baertschi, Beagle.

As the others before have said though. We wouldn't be paying much. MAF is just a stop gap goalie for us, as Demko is the future.

If Markstrom walks Canucks can sign a goalie in free agency instead of giving up assets for Fleury.
