If MacLean asks for a 5yr - 10 Mil deal, will the Sens sign him? Can Eugene afford him?

Torts and Vigneault each signed 5 yr deals for approx. the same money so the standard has been set. MacLean just won the Jack Adams, and was a nominee the previous season.

Sign him long term for as much money as he wants (Just as long as it isn't anything over 4 or 5 million a year).

But he is only in his 3rd yr as a headcoach, Torts & Vinny have been headcoaches for a while & Torts has a ring. Many coaches have won the Jack Adams Trophy & have been fired the next yr. I would like to see a long term deal too for Maclean but think it will be more like a 3 yr term for around $10 mil. At the end of this contract if he continues to have good success with this team & with all the good prospects Ottawa has coming that could be a given, he will command a lot of money. He could turn out to be just like Babcock & stay with Ottawa for the next 10 yrs or more if & only if he stays successful. JM was pretty successful here & he got canned.

I would love to sign him long term but wouldn't be surprised if he goes elsewhere for more money. Can't blame him if that were to happen.
